Waking is process, not a single moment in time (unless we are awaken suddenly.) We gradually move into higher levels of wakefulness. By the time you open your eyes you are generally already "awake," so to answer your question, most people are awake before they open their eyes. That said, I did open my eyes once when I was still asleep. It was strange, I couldn't move but I could see my room. Waking from that was like breaking invisible shackles of paralysis, very unpleasant. Anyway, interesting question. |

Usually wake up first but not always. There is also always the possibility that you sleep with your eyes open, which does happen on occasions. |

Wake up and roam around with eyes closed for as long as possible. |

you wake up first i think.... but sometimes...uhhh, i don't know. i think you start to wake up when you sense what around you "a voice, view, smell or what ever". that's "your wake up thing sometimes starts by opening your eyes". yes, that's my answer. |

I wake up first. There is a sense of waking I get before opening my eyes.
Sounds corny, its like coming out of a dream (pardon the analogy). I usually move around a bit in bed before opening my eyes as well. |
