Come on. Jesus wasn't a carpenter. This is what happens when someone translates a text between languages without understanding cultural differences. Joseph (and Jesus) were general laborers. Hebrew simply had no words for that. Medieval scribes had no sense of cultural equality, and so they wanted to portray them in terms europeans would understand. The Bible is a book; an important book to be sure, but still just a book. You RABID christian fundamentalists would do well to understand that. |
