Beware the fury of a patient man
Does anyone have a way to keep cigarette tobacco moist once you have opened the can?
I roll my own cigarettes and the tobacco always seems to dry out in the can before I can use it all.

Two answers:
1) Put all the tobacco in a Ziplock bag and squeeze all the air out before sealing each time.
2) Add an orange peel to the can, but not too many as excess moisture can create mold on the tobacco

We have used apple peelings. Just a few to keep it moist.

A couple tips:
1. Orange skins- If you place the skin of any citrus fruit
in with the tobacco you'll have your very own humidore. As
the skin drys it will release moisture into the air at a
rate which will keep your tobacco moist yet not enough to
mold it.
2. Refridgerate- Refridgerators do more then keep things
cold. They also help lock in moisture. Try keeping your
tobacco in the fridge and you'll see that it will stay
moist longer. For a much longer life cycle use the crisper.

i used to use it and the zip lock and apple or orange peels work...it dries out after awhile cause each time you use some your making more room for air that's why you need the zip lock bag ...and the fruit peels work for reasons that i dont know

divin_gurl
what ever you do do not put it in the freezer, that will dry it out...I would suggest a humidor...

Both orange & apple peals will work! You can roll all of it & seal the cigarettes in a zipplock bag, sucking all the air out! Then take out what you want & reseal!

many ceramic container have lids that are semi hollow if you know what i mean-i stuff a moist round sponge in mine-you have to buy a round sponge or cut one in a circle so it will stay inside the lip of the lid-old pot heads did this in the 70's(like my uncle-now i keep my rollies in there like that.

Try putting a piece of bread in the container or putting your tobacco in a zip-lock bag.

dr_death_42069
keep the tabacco in a cold place and it will stay good that is what i do with mine all the time

The best way to keep it moist without adding other flavors like apple or orange peel to it is to use one of those pottery squares that cooks use to keep their brown sugar from turning into a brick, you should be able to find them in any housewares section of your local Wal Mart, or go to a place that sells just cooking supplies, its about the size of a soda cracker. All you have to do is put it in a bowl of water and let it soak for about a half hour, then pat it dry and insert in the can, down in the middle of the tobacco. It works for my brown sugar, i wet it again about once a week and i have kept my sugar like that til i used it up, i don't use brown sugar that often so it sits in my pantry for a couple months. And the best part is it dont mold or mildew.

Try potato peelings not more than a couple of hours as tobacco gets to moist.
