Cheerleading has been taken over by gymnasts looking for more publicity. It has been turned into a remarkably dangerous and risky sport that takes huge amounts of skill and ability. Answer my question about competitive cheer. |

i suppose you could see it as a sport because it is a kind of dance but then again some people may not see that. Anyway, who cares what the guys think - lets see them do cheerleading!!!! haha |

Depends on how serious the squad is. The cheerleaders at my school by no means deserved to be classified as being in a sport, but some schools get really into it and actually do difficult routines, so I suppose they're about the equivalent of C-squad gymnastics. |

OH MY GOSH! After raising cheerleaders and seeing what all my daughters had to go through such as the gymnastics, training, running, jumping and other exercises plus having to be in sync with the other cheerleaders, YES, it IS a sport! And an expensive sport, at that!!!!! BTW, we won state championship in cheerleading. |

Duh it is! I love cheerleading. They just think it isn't a sport because they think it's too girly to be one. You get phisical activity while doing it since you do flips and stuff. Just tell them that next time you see them. |

Guys dont realize how much athletic ability you have to have. They sterotype you as pom pom shaking ditzes. I would forget them. |

I agree wholeheartedly with "wafflin"- I was even going to phrase it the same way! It's a great activity, but I just can't understand how it would be a sport, since the basis of it is literally to cheer for other sports?! |

Even though cheerleading in definatly not my thing. I do think that it takes hard work and alot of practice to do all those moves they do. For me I am a Baskettball fan. Go big E |

It is not a sport. It just is related to a sport and is an activity done which goes along with sports. They are totally different but only coincides in one point. |
