I have never heard of price fixing for street vendors but you do need permits (notice the plural)....check out these web sites for a good idea of what you are getting into.
Also note that each city can have its own bylaws governing these small businesses so you will have to check with you local authorities. |

I hope so. If not anybody could just microwave some hot dogs and set up a little area on the sidewalk and sale them. Could you just imagine? The sidewalk would be lined with crock pots/slow cookers. |

I don't know about all that. I think a license/permit is needed when anyone sets up business and sells anything. Also, I'm sure the health department wants to make sure that the cart, etc., is suitable to hold food. |

The United States Government has a vested interest in the public health, and food being sold to the public must pass certain criteria to be sold so that it will not cause the public health to suffer. As such, there are certain requirements as to temperatures and food handling. Yes indeed a permit or license to sell foods is required. I fail to see how price fixing would come into the scenario, want to comment further on that part of the question? |

you need a vendor's permit from your city. you are also required to attend safe food handling classes from the health department and you must submit to health department inspections of your food and cart at any time. |
