Jacob 2: 30 if I will . . . raise up seed unto me I will command.
D&C 132: 37 Abraham . . . Isaac . . . Jacob did . . . that which they were commanded.
D&C 132: 38 in nothing did they sin save in those things which they received not of me.

It never mentions it specifically, except in Jacob 2 where it says no man should have but 1 wife. This is why there is a rebuke of Joseph Smith by God. Joseph ignored the revelation and fought against it openly for a while. After being rebuked, yes he did call about 1% of the Men in Nauvoo to practice this commandment. And although Joseph was "married" to MANY wives, only 4 were while he was alive (many were "sealed" to him after his death) and of those 4 only two had children by him. Just thought you might find that fact interesting. That Joseph continually asked the Lord to not ask him to follow this commandment. |

I don't think it does in the way you are thinking. It mentions people that supposedly lived in America during the days of David and Moses having multiple wives. The Bible, of course, does too. It has been a while since I have read it, so I am not sure exactly what it says, but I know these verses mention it...
Jacob 1:15; 2:23,24,27,31; 3:5; Mosiah 11:2,4; Ether 10:5,7
Actually, I think these verses may condemn it. The problem lies with their Doctrines and Covenants, some of which support it. |
