Does this email from a buyer on Ebay sound like a rip off or could it be legit?
Hi, thank you very much for your response! Let me tell you what I need exactly.
My cousin is having a birthday soon and I would like to make a present for him.
I want it to be something special. For example cosmetics packed in gift wrap with a card inside for his wife.
Please let me know what you can offer. Also I want to send $900 via Western Union wire transfer as an additional money present
for my cousin. The only problem
is I want to make them surprised and don't want them to know that the present is from me
to let it remain a surprise.
I am looking for a seller who could help me with that.
I will pay for cosmetics, packaging, express shipping and WU fees of course.
As I said they live in Russia.
Please let me know if you could help me with that!
I will send the money for everything via PAYPAL upfront ofcourse.
I could even pay you for a trouble let's say $200 - please understand it's very
important for me!
I hope to hear from you soon! GOD bless you!
Have

Forward it to spoof@ebay.com. Looks bogus.

No one gives money away like that. Wouldn't it be just as a nice a surprise if this person handed their cousin the cash? Why would they go to such an extreme? Would you do that? No, of course not. If it's not logical, it's not real. Do the right thing and report this to eBay immediately! You're not fooled by this, are you? If you follow through, the next question is gonna be, "What's your account number?"

Listen, there's this bridge here in New York City I happen to come by, and it is just too much for me, so if you will send me 1,000 US dollars, I will deed it over to you. It's been very hard to get people to buy it, as they are thinking about the upkeep too, but I really didn't pay a lot for it myself, so it is not a loss to me really..........

pukcipriavroc8v
I would consider this a scam. Never accept an unsolicited eBay offer like this.

clonepuppet
Sounds like a con to me, E-Bay aways advices sellers not to use Western Union to begin with.

fluffydogconnoisseur
Obvious scam, anything with Western Union, secrecy and Russia gives it away.

One of the very standard current scams. You send the money out, then whatever they paid with in the first place bounced, your account is charged back, and whatever you sent out is gone.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS ONE!!!!!!!

No way, if this guy was serious he would have done it through a close friend and NOT a merchant that he happend to be on Ebay. And, always, always be leary of anyone who writes you a money order for more than you are expected to pay. This is always a scam.

Good luck.

I wouldn't touch that with a ten-foot pole. I would, however, forward it to the powers that be in Paypal land or eBay. Sounds totally like a scam.

Sounds like a scam, If you answer they will ask for you to wire them some money as collatoral so you won't take their money.

loudy_foudy
Sounds like a rip off! Be careful!

If he's going to pay upfront, then there shouldn't be too much of a problem. It's the people who get thier goods and not pay, or vice-versa.

FYI Been waiting 4 weeks for a DVD set.
