Tell him to report to the authorities and find another buyer. You'd have to be a bit silly to fall for that old scam. |

Scam, scam, scam, DO NOT DO IT!!!!
Find yourself another buyer, otherwise you will find yourself owing £2800 to your bank and minus your pc.
Report them to the police! |

This sounds more like a scam than money laundering. If you decide to go ahead, wait until your bank assures you that the cheque is genuine.
The way this scam usually works is that the cheque is cashed and the person sends the funds. But the cheque has no money to back it and the person is out the money they sent with no recourse. |

i promise you....have nothing to do with this 'deal'...it's a scam - avoid completely!! |

This sounds like a scam! I would advise you and your boyfriend to REFUSE this offer! If you go along, the following is what is likely to happen. You start out by cashing the overdraft cheque and you think everything is fine. You send them the money and the PC. A few days or weeks later, you find out that the cheque they sent you was actually counterfeit, and you've also lost the money you sent them, not to mention the PC! This is a very common scam! |

Dont do it ! I saw this sort of thing on Tonight with Trevor Mcdonald!
The scam works because it could take your bank weeks to tell you that the cheque has bounced, even after telling you that it has cleared. Then the full money (£2800) is deducted from your account by the bank.
So you have handed over your PC, and you have given them £2580. Then in time, the bank will take £2800 out your account and you are left with no pc and no money!
Ask yourself why they would be so trusting. If they give you a cheque for £2800, how do they know that you will be honest enough to give them the change? They dont know that you will, so why would they offer this? |

Do not touch this with a barge pole. You are being asked to change a third party cheque and send the balance to someone else.
This could be a stolen cheque. As soon as you cash it YOU will be libel for handling stolen goods - attempting to receive funds not yours - or plain theft.
At best you are being asked to cash a company cheque (overdraft) to pay for an incidental item and get you to send the balance. IS the company in cash flow problems and the bank wont give them any.
Stay away....put the PC on eBay and get paid by pay pal |

The check you get will be worthless. Wait until it clears, which it will not. You will be responsible for the money you took out of your account thinking the check will be good. The person will then have the stereo and the money you sent them. You will owe the bank for the bad check and not have the stereo. |
