i find their story very hard to believe! Did they pay for postal insurance? If not, I can't see how you should have to pay for a replacement. |

Ask the buyer to return the bottle and packaging in order for you to send a refund. Check to make sure it just hasn't been used and the greedy buyer wants to pull a fast one and want more.
Never give a refund unless your returned goods have been returned. |

I cant see how it is your responsibility to replace an item damaged in transit. But just to be on the safe side, make sure you add it to item descriptions if you dont already. |

See if if they're willing to cooperate and explain you sent it properly packed and ask him to see RM (i'm assuming in uk and using normal post with RM) or whichever company posted it and see if they are willing to accept liablity for handling the package and if so get compensated from them possibly. |

Find this very hard to believe. If the package had come undone it would have been delivered in a special bag they have for damaged post I have had them a couple of times.
I would ask her if she can email you a photo of the package or get her to return it to you and once you've seen the damage will give her a refund. in my experience you probably won't hear from her again. also check her feedback see if she has tried anything like this before. But I wouldn't refund her |

its definately not down to you to replace the item. if the buyer is genuinely unhappy and paid by paypal, i think they are covered by some sort of insurance on there.
the problem is really with your courier, who should have looked after the item properly, so the buyer could even claim compensation off them... |

I would have thought it most likely you would have heard from the post office if it were genuine |

if the buyer did not purchase insurance for shipping then you are not liable. at least to my knowledge this is correct. just email them and tell them that you are sorry about this however sellers should always buy insurance for shipping so there are never any problems. tell them that you hope they will not have a problem like this one in the future and to remember to always use insurance. they should understand :) |

You need to ask for the faulty product back but it's the buyer who pays for postage and once you get it back you refund the selling price only, not the postage for back and forth. If the buyer does not want to send it back then it would just be better to apologize and refund the selling price of the item (again, not the postage) and politely explain you do not have another one to replace it for them. You shouldn't have any trouble and hopefully the buyer wont leave negative feedback.
Good luck. |

You need to show good service on E Bay, but make sure you are not being taken advantage of. Do not give any refund unless the goods & pacaging are returned to you so you can see the damage for yourself. If it seems genuine then, I would always give a refund, but hope I have proof of postage to claim back off the courier, with Royal mail & proof of purchace you can claim up to £32 without any additional insurance. Think about adding to your listings in future details of your returns policy & an option for insurance, then it is clear what you are liable for. |

It could have happened but unless the buyer got insurance on the package, it's out of your hands. if you continue to get emails, contact ebay and tell them the situation, they deal with this stuff all the time and will send you a personal reply with advice. |

Did they sign for it?
Damaged-on-arrival items should have been noted as such... |

Not your fault if he/she did not insure it as long as
packaging was satisfactory.Jiffy bag for a bottle is
not satisfactory if not a bottle they still have point
with a Jiffy bag.
You can expect a a bad rating from this purchaser
and that will knock our 100% down. |

Insist they send photographic evidence. And then tell them you were selling just the one bottle and have no more available. Their claim should be with Royal Mail, I hope you sent it Recorded Delivery or got a certificate of posting? |

Sorry, I am not sure I can agree with you. Since you sold the item, and set your own price for shipping and handling, it follows that you are responsible for packing it securely. Because the package came open during delivery, that could be evidence that it was not adequately protected in the package. I know that I won't win best answer for this, but the truth is, only the seller can control the packaging, and so is responsible for the loss if package is below reasonable standards. You would not expect a seller to send you a fresh chicken egg in a paper envelope, right? If they did, you would want your money back. I've been using ebay since 1999, and I know I would be asking for a refund if it were me. |
