i've had this as well do not send anything to them!! when you list an item there are sellers requirements where you can stop bidders from bidding. say for instance a feedback score under 5 or who doesnt have a paypal account and so on. it will be on the same page as return policy. if not send a second chance offer to highest bidder |

how can it be stopped by ebay? who knows.
how can it be stopped by YOU. when you put something on ebay - there is a place where you can CHOOSE which country buys from you - personally, I would do USA(if you live here) - and canada if you want. I personally only do USA because I don't want the hassle of doing canada because I weight my things(on a baby scale) at home, and I print my labels (through paypal/ebay) - so that I can free tracking . I use priority mail.
So- to answer your question: Limit the places you send your things, and when you are going through and placing and item up for bid, there is a place on ebay that asks where you ship to. |

You can choose the countries you want to ship to, and block anyone from bidding who isn't from those countries.
Set your buyer blocks first. In My eBay, choose Preferences > Seller Preferences > Edit. Then check the box that says "block buyers from countries I don't ship to".
On your eBay listings, just choose you own country - or specify which you want, but DON'T choose "worldwide". Then people from the countries you haven't selected will be blocked from bidding. |

To be safest, you should only deal with people in your local area and insist on cash payments in person.
You can sell your stuff locally on MarketWall UK:
http://marketwall.com/uk
MarketWall is free. Since you're selling to people in your area you won't need to bother with P&P.
If you keep posting on eBay, you'll have to continue dealing with scammers from Nigeria and then deal with the hassle of trying to get your listing fees back from eBay. |

Contact ebay as an emergency situation, or ring them if you have to.
GOOD LUCK!

I had to keep checking my bidders at one point due to the same thing.
If I saw there was a bid on something, I checked where they from and their feedback.
If they were dodgy I cancelled their bid, (but didnt cancel bids willy nilly) I had a disclaimer on my auctions too |

Why is it a problem? I have sold to buyers from Nigeria and they invariably pay well over the odds if you do them financial favours. I make extra money, they get help releasing funds for relatives and everyones a winner. |
