What you did was increase your high-bid. You went from $40.00 to $42.00. eBay doesn't add the two together.
The only way you'd go up to $82.00 on the auction is if you placed your bid at $82.00.
...and you'd only pay the $82.00 if someone bid about $80.00 before the auction ended, otherwise you'd win a bit higher than the previous high bidder.
Hope this makes sense to you. The bottom line is, you bid $42.00 and sounds like you lost. |

click on the bid history to see what the last bid was, if you bid again and are out bid again, that means the other bidder has a bid limit that you haven't passed yet. example:
item A current bid is $40
you bid $42 and are out bid. that means the other bidder could have a bid limit of $55 but you can't see that until you make a bid over $55.50. if you do get the highest bid make sure its worth the price you're paying. what is your bid limit? |
