I have a business on ebay and am finding the same problem - items sent on the 10th Oct have still not reached the customers. If you have sent the item recorded delivery to a confirmed address (you can check this by looking at the client's address details on paypal) you are covered by sellers protection under paypal so don't worry about that.
I managed to get through to royal mail today - the worst affected areas are London, Liverpool and Yorkshire - London and Liverpool were on strike from the 4th to the 13th October! The chap at RM said they still have millions of parcels to sort - letters are getting through as theses are sorted by machine but parcels are done manually. A parcel is not officially lost until is has been undelivered by the RM for 15 WORKING days. I have a stock answer for my customers similar to what I have given you - hopefully, this will reassure them but of course, we are not responsible for the royal mail. |

just speak to the buyer and ask if they are willing to wait a few more days due to the stike as there was a lot of backlog,
if they just want a refund you will have to give them the full refund and then speak to royal mail and they will compensate you up to a total of £34 on recorded delivery

I'm sure the strike will be taken into account. As long as you have proof of posting (for dates etc) it will be fine. The buyer will see from the postmark on the package when YOU sent it so they will know that any delay was beyond your control. You will not be out of pocket because if the item gets 'lost' the Royal Mail will do any refunding. |

I'm an avid Ebayer. Not familiar with Royal Mail as I'm in the States.
However. If you tell your buyer that the items have been sent and show your delivery confirmation code as evidence, they shouldn't be able to get a refund. Plus Ebay and Paypal will give you a chance to defend yourself against any charge back or report of items unsent. Considering the Mail strike you speak of, I don't think you have much to worry about.
Stand your ground and assure your buyer, nicely mind you, that the items will get to them as soon as possible. Just keep reminding them of the situation which is out of your control. |

the person you sent it to will probably understand and be nice about it...just tell them what happened and ask if they'll wait longer |

Good grief, spider817 is a bit narky on this one! Unjustified aggression methinks.
Raz, you are one of many who are suffering on this one. Have a look at the story on Tamebay on this one (RM saying up to 4 weeks to clear backlog)

I suspect Paypal might be deferring decisions on non-delivery within the UK right now. You have proof of postage (good) but until you get that signature, you have no proof of delivery, so it could go either way. However, if Paypal find in his favour and he THEN receives the parcel, you'll be able to appeal and get a refund as you'll now have proof of delivery
All the best

Ebay will take into consideration the fact that there has been the srtike, so will probably advise the buyers to wait a little longer til they report as an item not received.
Paypal will help you only if you sent the items to a confirmed address and you have a receipt with the postcode on to proove that item has been sent.
I sell on ebay too and have customers stropping that I haven't sent their goods- but that's only cos I haven't received their cheques- so why would I send their stuff??! Maybe the cheques are in a black hole together somewhere with your items that you sent??!! Maybe they have eloped off together to have some fun! |

you will be protected with paypal thogh you will probably have to put a claim in with royal mail if the items dont turn up. first ask the buyer to wait another week before refunding them, it is only fair due to the choas of the strike |

YOU SHOULD OF MADE IT CLEAR TO YOUR BIDDERS THAT BECAUSE OF A POSTAL STRIKE,ITEMS WOULD BE DELAYED,OR OTHER ARANGEMENTS WOULD HAVE TO MADE FOR DELIVERY.
EVERYONE IS IN SUCH A HURRY TO SELL CRAP ON EBAY,THAT THEY DONT DO THE MOST BASIC OF THINGS TO PROTECT THEMSELVES.
I CANT BELIEVE YOU SELL THINGS ON EBAY,AND CALL IT THAT PAYPAL PROTECTION "THINGY"...NOT TOO SMART IS IT.
KNOW YOUR LAWS AND PROTECT YOURSELF AND YOUR BUYERS...ITS SELLERS LIKE YOU ,THAT GIVE EBAY A BAD NAME.....DO YOUR HOMEWORK. |

There is another postal strike in the UK and I have just had to refunded two UK purchases on EBay after being lied to by two customer service reps in both the US Resolution Centre and UK Resolution Centre. I now will not sell in the UK anymore until their postal system is running again. EBay did not take into account the strike!!!! SELLER BEWARE |
