Cheap apartment: 650 (don't forget the down payment though)
food: 300
utilities/phone bill: 200
clothes: depends
health insurance: ?
car insurance: ?
Gas: ?
Dentistry:?
other - don't forget you'll have to pay for laundry, toilet paper, cleaning supplies, a vacuum, dishwashing supplies, kitchen supplies (pots, pans, utensils, plates, cups, etc).
You have to calculate yourself - it depends on your insurance plans, how often you buy new clothes, where you live, etc.
You'll probably spend about $2000/month - it's possible to get by on less.
I have a sister who has a cheap house with a roommate and lives on $10,000/year.... however, she eats 1 meal a day, rides her bike around town instead of using her car, and doesn't have health insurance.... and obviously no cable or internet (in fact, she doesnt even own a TV).
edit: have 2-3 months rent saved up and more, depending on what you own (if you have an old car, save up enough for fixing/towing in emergencies - get triple A, if possible - even if you have a newer car, save up for emergencies). If you don't have health insurance, save up a couple hundred for health emergencies....
So I'd say to have atleast $5000 saved up. IF you have a STABLE job. |

honestly, you won't be able to live on your own and do community college AND pay for it all yourself. it is near impossible! live at home for a few years and let your parents help you out some. you can't really have a full time job while in college unless you want to burn yourself out from exhaustion. you also need time to study and do your work! college, no matter where you go, is ridiculously expensive (in the thousands for each semester, community college is probably $2000 or more a semester). books alone for a semester can cost you almost $500! maybe try dorming, apply for FAFSA, and go to school while coming home for breaks. i'm 19 right now and in college and there is just no way i would make it on my own. rent is usually ridiculous and many landlords are not happy about 18 year olds living on their property. food is also expensive when buying for one person (i spend so much on so little food for myself that goes bad). living on your own at 18 will leave you starving and unhappy. |

rent $6-750
food $300
power bill $120 every 2nd mth
phone/internet/cable $140
some places charge a damage deposit too, but that varies.
heat depends on what kind you have, and some rents include heat.
clothing again depends how much you like to spend. you can budget that around how much a month you have left over :)
i would want to have about 3 months of all these bills saved before moving out, just to make sure i'm not going to be struggling for cash along the way.
Also, College costs $4500-5500.
and do you still need to buy your own furniture??? cause that is costly! |

to live on your own about $1000 total for rent, utilities including internet and cable, and groceries, if you know how to shop and live on a budget. Add another hundred on clothes, and stuff like sodas and chips and stuff like that> College? I don't know. It also depends where you live. Also save atleast $1000, because you'll have to put a deposit down on your apartment, and your water and electricity. Plus you'll already want a bed, couch, and tv and anything else you think you need. Oh, and as for food, I have a family of three, and I cook almost every night, and go out to eat about once a week (fast food, not resturant) and I can get by on only $300 a month. So by yourself, you will NOT need $300 for food. |

you should do some research on average rent in a good area you want to live in whether you want to live in apartments or rent a house or sometime you can find a small apartment over a garage someone will rent you.Rent differs depending on your area. around here 550 monthly. Also you have to consider security deposit, utilities whether or not they are included. As does community college. I say around 3000 books plus classes per semester. Groceries you by yourself should be able to get by on 50 to 100 a week. I would live for free as long as possible.A few rules beats being broke all the time cause then you just cant afford to do anything.
Good Luck |

it depends on where you live..... around here you could get by on less than $1000 a month legitimately. As for college thats a little more! |

I get by easily on about $900 - $1000/month depending...... on your life style. |

It all depends on where you live,
Get a roommate, that already divides your rent
Look into apartments near the university in you town, they tend to be a little cheaper due to many college kids living around there with lack of funds.
You have to think about rent, utilities, laundry, furniture, food, bathroom products, gas, insurance, phone, internet, cable, etc.
I know it sounds like a lot, just do your research and figure out what the average price of things in your town |

Living on your own hits you hard... I moved into my own apartment when I was in high school and my rent was 500 a month, my utilities were about 50, food varied but still cost me about 200 a month. It all adds up quickly. Be sure when you move out to stick to a budget or things could get bad and you can find yourself in debt.
Tuition for a community college varies... you're going to have to research that... but you can usually get financial aid to help pay for that for now... |

$1,500 per month for me that is without TV cable or any thing good. I recommand try change your parent first. Try get them to give you space, it is cheaper that way. When you move out the price go up for your parent and yourself. My parent have to hire $400 per winter for someone else shovel their snow. And, $200 per month for their grass cut. And, all other works, when they get me to do for free. See how cost go up for everyone when we can't live together.
Edit: Together might be keyword how this might work. Try to rent a room in two or three rooms apartment or house. You might get below $1000 per month. |
