Excellent question! Oh, dont listen to all that cr** about glory to god and stuff...
If u look around, u will notice we arent the only creatures on this earth. There are millions and millions of animals and plants. Pretty amazing huh? However, we are unique cuz we have a highly developed intelligence and have the power to change our environment to suit our own needs.
The purpose of all the other organisms is obvious- to maintain the ecosystem. Its a system of balance and check and countercheck in nature. So where do we fit in all of this? Are we too a puppet in nature's hands? If so, then why are we gifted with such an advanced intellect?
Obviously, the purpose of the human existance is much more than meets the eye. Each organism has a purpose of contributing to the balance of the eco-system. Thus, man's purpose (I believe) is to act like a guardian over this earth. We are the only creatures with enough resources and acumen to take care and conserve the planet. However, the abuse of greatness is when it disjoins power from remorse. Man does exactly the opposite, cutting trees, killing for skin and profit, polluting and so on...
About the personal reasons. I believe every person has the right to make whatever he wants out of his life. Of course, people only remember either the great, or the worst. For example, every1 knows Alexander, Napoleon and other great leaders. Every1 knows Hitler, Mussolini and other such tyrants. But no one knows the ordinary guy. The one who works, 8 hours a day and hates monday mornings... So if u are looking for universal acclaim, all the best from my side. But if u want to be remembered, at least by ur loved ones and future generations, then remember that its ur character and your morals that will live on, even after death and the curse of oblivion... |
