I wouldn't say so, the deal must be sealed w/ a legal document, also, there maybe multiple owners of the property, therefor they need all owners concent, in other words, no.

Does the wife come with it?

Yes it is - all they get is the keys though. I have seen people throw in titles and loose them. If you are gambling and you put it up then you should be ready to loose it.

Depends on several factors...1) Was he impaired (drinking, etc.)...2) Is the house in his name only....3) Check with your state attorney general for further details.

I guess it would depend on how serious and die hard these guys are about their games. Some men start playing and friends or no friends--*F* it!!! they are getting what they put in. Kinnicky put up the pinks to his car and they were very serious about it... lol

arkansas-gal
Well etiquette wise it should be but no they shouldn't do that though cause they will become untrustworthy and unless there is a binding agreement signed the house is safe. Most won't want to play with that person anymore but, in a game with high stakes they could get hurt for doing such things

You really want to take a house that your "buddy" is probably owing over $100K on? Dang! There might be no equity in the house and therefore it's worth nothing to you. That would be a rather onerous mortgage to take on.

Seriously though, the answer would be, No, it is not binding. you'll have to prove that your friend had serious intentions to sell the house. The fact that you played a weekly game of cards makes this more casual than serious. Black Jack is not the way serious house sellers go about it.

Also, you have provided no, or inadequate consideration, (you've given nothing except the wager/chance to "win" his house) to show good faith in the purchase transaction - if you can call it that. This would nullify the "purchase" even if the first issue above was allowed.

[Threaten him though...so he doesn't do it again!]

no, of course not.. plus they should be friends so they wont be gay and steal your house.. if they do they are not your friends..

alwaysconfused
No way is it binding. You are friends and it is a game!
