HAVE YOU EVER BEEN FIRED? Be honest - were you stunned, angry or tearful?

yes, i was fired from my job after 28 years of loyal and efficient service. at first i felt bad because i was asking myself ... why me? i think i have been a good, honest, efficient and intelligent worker and a good team member. but then, management prerogative is something that is quite hard to dispute. they know better on how to run their business. but after sometime, comes the realization that you are a lot better off that those that you left behind. you have a brand new better future waiting for you. you have a good wealth of experience that will make you marketable in the job market. your worth is unmistakably increased by the experience acquired in the previous job/s. you can now do things and get into jobs that are a lot better than what you previously had or maybe try a different field that may prove to be more challenging and rewarding.

Yes. I was happy. It was a case of round peg square hole syndrome. I also happen to be able to think and form my own thoughts and they didn't think that was a good idea. It was A&W the fast food restaurant. I lasted 2 weeks. I also refused to come in for a 3 hour shift when it was my sister's graduation.

I did my happy dance all the way home.

yes of course, I had gotton the heads up from another employee. Since I had already planned to leave that job, that next week anyway because I had something lined up. I waited till they sat me down in there little room and began talking. I simpply interrupted and said before you begin I have something to tell you guys as well.. I'm resigning, and my last day is well NOW hahahaahhaha

yeah, i was fired from this restaurant, that shall remain nameless, but i was working the over night shift, and me and the dishwasher were outside goofing off, and i guess the manager happened to drive by, which is kinda unusual because it was like 4 a.m, anyway the next day when i showed up for work, the assistant manager said she needed to talk to me, and said she had to fire me cause the general manager saw us. I can't really say i was shocked cause i seen it coming, but i was sad, and a little worried because i had a ton of late bills to pay.

Yeah, I was fired from my last three jobs. Twice for losing my temper and once for going outside to smoke a cigarette. The first time I was relieved because I only slept 4 hours before work. The second time I was surprised because I didn't think it was that big a deal. The third time I was pretty angry.

Never fired. Have been layed off several times. Not for anything I had done so no regrets on my part and most of them were simply because the company was cutting back.

I was stunned, then tearful and then angry and I am still angry after almost 2 years. I still wish bad things on my boss. And I know that anger just eats you up and does no good, but I still can't get rid of it cause I still don't know any reason why I was fired. I had worked at this accounting firm for almost 7 years and come up in the ranks from answering the phone to having my own business accounts to handle. My boss was also the owner of the business. She only had 3 employees counting me. It was tax season and I worked until 9 pm on the 15th and I was exhausted and she called me into her office and I thought she was going to give me a bonus cause we always take the day after the 15th as a holiday and the year before she gave all of us a 3 day vacation at a spa. I was the only employee left cause I always stuck it out until the end and stayed as long as she did. So I was all ready for my surprise bonus and instead she told me she was letting me go and for me to get all my stuff right then because she did not want me to return to the office. She had my paycheck ready and a 2 week severance check and she gave me a box to pack my personal stuff in. I asked her for a reason and she just said she decided to downsize and the other girl had more experience than me. (An outright lie cause she had been there less that a year and I had to teach her everything she knew). I begged for an explanation and she would not give me one. I was devastated....I cried the entire time I was packing my stuff and she stayed in her office with the door locked. I guess she thought I would hit her or something. I had to call my husband to come and get me because I was too upset to drive home. Now I am still so angry and hurt and if she died I would dance on her grave. I have never hated anyone until now...so thats my story...whats yours?

Nope...never been fired...I've only had one job so far and I'm leaving for college in about 2 weeks, so I don't think there are any chances of me getting fired...lol

Plenty of times.

When I worked at a mental institution in college, I was stunned. Whodathunk that being late every day was a bad thing?!

When I worked for a company as a manager (I relocated for this company and they treated me horribly) I was pissed and I sued them and won.

When I worked for a low paying contractor, I was relieved.

When I worked at a low paying consulting firm, I gave two weeks notice after finding a better job. I was fired a few days late and I got vengeance by getting a job at their major client and firing them!

I was fired at 14. I was working at a restaurant, and I guess the manager didn't know the law very well. A customer asked for some beer, and my boss told me to get it. He was the boss, so I did! Someone saw me, and reported it. He had to pay a $5,000 fine, and he said he couldn't afford to keep me because I was a minor and couldn't serve alcohol.

Yes….I was angry at first. All those things where going threw my head like, how was I going to pay my bills…Then I gathered my thoughts and made some phone calls “sold myself” (Meaning good resume, good interviews) and now I have a job making twice the amount I was before.
