If you posses over half the note you can send it back to the Bank of England, and they will replace it. |

No because the number must match on the left and the right. |

I would suggest asking in your nearest bank, but i wouldnt guarantee success. However it is the only way you will find out.
Good Luck. |

Oh no! i won't ask what happened to the note lol.
No, unfortunately i don't think you will be able to use that note without the other half!
Sorry! |

you would need both halves and selotaped together to use it, if you only have one halve then it is useless |

You'd need to get someone to accept it from you, which seems unlikely. As you say that you have half the note you could try applying to the Bank of England, who depending on the damage will send you a cheque to cover the amount.
The link below will give you more information and there is a claim form. From that site it sounds like your note is in pretty good shape.Just out of interest per year they get about 35,000 individual applications, totaling around £40 million.
(I guess that's what it means when it says on bank notes "I promise to pay the bearer on demand the sum of...") |

No, you can take a whole note in two peices, but not just one half. Otherwise we would all tear our money in half... |

Ask Del Boy or Rodney. |

I can't see any shop accepting your 'half a 20 pound note'. See if you can get it changed at your local bank as they'll be able to check if it's genuine. Failing that, try the Bank of England. As long as it's genuine I can't see that changing it for a whole 20 pound note would be a problem. |
