I think so - yes, check your contract |

yes, however I dont know if your employer would be to happy to pay you. they may pay you statutory sick pay which is less than what you are earning i bet.
do you have any holiday pay to offset the notice period? |

Yeah....welcome on the sick. |

yea, should be ok with that.
unless you happen to work at a doctors surgery, how can your employers argue with a doctors note? If the doc says time off, take time off.
If you have served your notice, it is served regardless of whether you are there or not.
SAINT_GEORGE, i sort of agree, but what does this guy do? e.g. Brick layer or air traffic controller?
A depressed brick layer is still better than one with a history of back problems. An air traffic controller can still work with a bad back, but you wouldn't want a depressive in control of the movement of aeroplanes.
Depends on circumstance. :-) |

Yes, it would count towards your notice period, but I wouldn't go for depression, it won't look good on your CV for your next employer. How about a bad back? |

Yes it would. Only if you get full pay for sick leave - so check you contract. Obviously, hand in your notice first. Otherwise it could be premeditated. |

As an employer i don't let anyone work there notice as to much damage is done by disgruntled employes .May also suggest that as an employee you have no worries Its your employer should be depressed with all the c*** he/she has to put up with. |

Get the Doctors note first & yes it will count as long as you are passed probation period and paid for sick.
However, a future reference could ask "did he work his notice period" to which the answer would be, yes, but was off sick.
I'd be brave, resign and then just go in everyday, late and do naff all. Play on Yahoo allday instead. |

dont hand in your notice, go to your dr & let them sign u off sick this can be done for upto 28 weeks this way you hang on to all your rights as an employee, & say after a few months off you suddenly get back your get up & go, you can go back to work.... however past the 28 weeks your employer can opt to let you go.
Whatever you do Dont hand in your notice. |

why not go and see a doctor first before you leave or quit your job? f you have an illness like depression don't you think it might be the cause of you wanting to quit? If you are depressed a doctor will sign you off, and i believe your work has a responsability to make sure that you can come back i.e. lighter workload etc. Whatever you decide to do, i can only wish you the best of luck in getting better.....Good Luck.... |
