Good point. Nobody expects to pay for anything over ebay, its all about finding stuff for 2pounds etc. And you're right, you'll never sell anything for what you want. Its a massive industry tho, it'll be around for a long time yet. |

Yes, I think too many people are expecting something for nothing on EBay. |

I'm an ebay seller and I don't think the bubble has burst. The problem is that ebay is saturated with sellers who are all selling the same products. Items are selling but there are so many sellers to choose from. We (sellers) have to resort to gimmicks etc. just to get noticed amongst the other 10,000 designer handbag sellers out there. It's just like real world shopping. Do you go to Big Lots or WalMart or Kmart or Target? They all sell the same stuff so they all have to fight for consumer dollars. |

Ebay like any marketplace is saturated with people selling items they are interested in... i.e. clothing, electronics, collectibles, etc...
For those selling items that are not as glamorous where there are fewer sellers times are going good.
Won't give an example because that will just create a flood in that industry.
Imagine going to the mall and all there was were electronic stores. it would be hard for the little guys to survive. |

Freight is becoming an issue now. Even though you can find something for a great price, its not worth then paying X$ to get it shipped to you. Finding a steal is becoming harder and harder. There are more sites now like EBay, like Kijiji and alike where you can advertise for free. With comments like Ebay selling goods that are recalled, is it worth the chance for a bargain? |

This may be true for certain products, but I don't seem to have hit a brick wall - 85% of the stuff I advertise sells, so I must have what people want.
It is true that you do have to be very careful, as there are quite a few rogue traders, but then you get that in every walk of life. |

With testimony from the newest OJ Simpson case, I'd think so. If you can't sell it on Ebay, where CAN you sell it?
But if you know what you're looking for, Ebay's pretty good... especially when it comes to products no longer offered elsewhere.
But collectibles.. oh yeah! It's terrible. I live near an auction house where people go to buy junk only to resell it on Ebay.
In essence, I don't think it's what it should have been. |
