I just got mine back!! I had 1800 pounds in bank changes plus 400 pound statutory interest at 5% which makes 2200. I sent off my 1st template letter plus my list of charges including interest and about 4 weeks later I got a letter from the Halifax defending it's bank charges but at the bottom of the letter they offered me a goodwill settlement offer of 1603 pound! I accepted and I just cashed my cheaque yesterday and promptly went to the pub for a pint which tasted dam good!!!
Word of warning they approved my settlement at 9am and closed my bank account at 10am so make sure you have got another bank account before you accept their offer.
Good Luck |

Got charged 30 quid for going overdrawn £20. Went to bank asked to speak to someone, they took my card looked at my account and said, 'You've never been overdrawn before, so we put the money back in' Couldn't believe it and I hadn't even spoken. Less than a minute! Well impressed! |

Yep - I got £2k back.
It took about 5 weeks in total from sending the first letter to the money getting into my account.
You'll find that they'll offer you a "goodwill" payment of less than you're asking. Don't accept it - they will pay you every penny if you hold out. |

I was charged $25.00 for an NSF check once, when I should not have been charged. It was the bank that screwed up and not me. I just went to the teller and raised hell and the bank reversed the charges right there and then. |

yes and I worked for the bank at the time, I took out a cash advance and the next teller did an advance for a customer and it went on my card. Took them a month to fix it and i kept hasseling them until they fixed it. If you don't breathe down their necks it will take much longer for them to fix it. |

They might be talking about charges that are more than five dollars, like a bank over-draft. The only way to prevent giving your bank more money than you should - is just be more responsible/keep an an eagles eye on your account. |

If you give more details I could perhaps tell you if you would win.. I am a bank employee that handles bounced checks as well as research and proof operations. What kind of charges are you trying to win back? |
