Yes - it makes it very hard to trust people. Find people you know you can trust and stick with them (auto mechanics, honest businesses, etc.) They are out there, but you need to check with people to see if they have heard good/bad things.

yes, i was scammed by a spammer. about 5 yrs ago, i thought i was getting a "free" 2way pager if you pay money for the service. it turns out it was actually a 1way pager, and they never sent it out, but deducted the money from my account.
