BT (British Telecom) are charging £4.50 to process payments. How can they justify that? I have just sent a letter of complaint to them, cause I think it is disgusting.
In this country we get ripped-off by electric, gas, tv license, water, and now BT.
Why do we English allow companies like BT to rip us off?

I only recently found out I was paying BT £37 a month line rental, not including internet. That's totally shocking. I'm now with Orange paying £24 a month for line rental, unlimited 8meg internet and I got a free router.

BT are a rip off. That's why I no longer use them.
L D where does the government come into it? They get blamed for stuff which is not their concern! If BT are ripping you off, vote with your feet. Virgin Media are reasonable, internet for £10/month, cheaper than BT and no need for a phone. |

I completely agree!! i was on BT internet and i have changed orange now BT were charging me £30 a month and i was only meant to be charged £20! We complained they said they would sort it but they never did so we switched orange wireless broadband is 10X better!!!!! |

You're wrong Harry, it's not a discount for paperless billing, it's a charge for not using direct debit, and i agree that it is a total rip off!
Why should i pay them monthly in advance for a service that i have not used yet? I don't go to a restraunt and pay for the meal before i have eaten.
It's absurd that the government are allowing nearly all the service companies to do this. |

We are also ripped off by train and bus companies, banks, car companies, etc. and you can buy the same Japanese computer in US at half its cost in UK. That is why we are called rip off Britain.
But you cannot complain. We voted for what we got and we have to keep all the immigrants with their 10 children each, not to mention one war after another, Blair got us into. Do you think all these things come free? |

It's not right I agree because my old great grandmother was being charged that amount simply because she is unable to get out and relies on her family to pay her bills. She only has a post office account and they said that they can't accept direct debits from that.
My great grandmother is one of the people who believe that banks are the biggest crooks so she said that she would pay it by cash or at the post office. It's just another case of poor old Joe public paying over the odds as usual.

Do yourself a favour. ditch BT they have a lousy customer service & are quite possibly the worst company for its ethics in the world.
Why do you think it took so long for internet phones in the uk, Can you ever get a internet connection that is not with a BT line only, how many years did you have to wait for Sky tv without a BT line. only when BT have power will they release these restraints.
their are thousands of people like you that are paying a fortune to BT but not getting the service, making them millions of pounds for not giving a good service. the only way to stop, is to take their profits away. I own a company and point blank REFUSE to use BT in our network of over 30 hotels & switchboards. to my knowlege from my company alone BT have lost out in my custom of easily £100k per year.

There is only one way to make a company change the way it treats its customers - stop giving them your money. If everyone who was unhappy with the new charge left BT, they'd soon sit up and take notice when the money stops rolling in.
I think Tiscali's current offer is pretty hard to beat. £20 gets you up to 8meg broadband, free line rental and free anytime calls to landlines and some international destinations too.
The downside is that you still have to pay by direct debit or credit card, and their call centre is in India. But at least they are upfront about it. |
