You brought it up with your boss and she said you were fine so I believe that you are. Dont worry about it. As long as you dont make it a habit of taking time off of work no one will think badly of you. Everyone takes time off at some point or another in their career so if anyone does think badly of you they are hypocrites. |

Hi,
You've done everything correctly. You asked before (and not after) the event and got permission. Absolutely no need to wory at all.
People are aware that when death occurs and funerals are arranged that people will want to attend. Don't worry at all.
Incidentally, commiserations for the loss of your close friend.
Cheers,

It sounds like you are covered, and it shouldn't be any problem. She'll report the number of hours that you worked, but most likely won't have to attach any reason.
Sorry for your loss. |

I think that this is all really about trusting your boss. I think that you should trust that your boss will take care of you.
If she said she understood then she does and will take any problems and deal with it. And I'm positive that anyone higher up then you will also understand. Everyone goes through times when they have to do other things than work even people high in a major company.
Trust is very important in a boss/ employee situation. So I say that you shouldn't worry and trust your boss you'll be fine! 8 )
P.S. I'm so sorry about your loss. : ( |

No, in this situation most will not create trouble for you. There are rules about taking vacation when you start the job, but in such situations boss will allow you time off. Just express your gratitude when you return. Don't worry about it. |

You already asked this once.
No, you have nothing to worry about. Please don't assume that your supervisor is unaware of what she can and can't authorize. That is very annoying when employees do that. |

Firstly sorry to hear your partners grandfather passed away. This is the way I look at it. We spend so much of our valuable time at work and most of the time family and friends take second place, seeing this is the last opportunity you have to say goodbye I say go. I would feel more guilty at not going. You have only asked for two days off and stuff what anyone else thinks... you're not going to a day spa, you're going to a funeral. You're boss said yes so if there are any issues once you get back, be assertive and stick by your guns. You can still mourn the loss of someone even if they weren't an immediate family member but I'm sure your partner would really appreciate your support to. Goodluck in the workplace and remember the important things in life. :) |

No, don't be concerned. Your boss has the final word. Be glad to know you work for a company that is understanding about these things! |
