Basically what you have to do to protect your account goes like this:
1 - No transactions online. In person withdrawals and deposits only.
2 - Use credit cards only as a last resort (and only to keep them alive if you have any)
3 - Change your bank account info (a new account?) and give it out to nobody.
4 - Change the pin # on your debit card approx 3x per year (preferably just before holidays like Christmas and Valentine's & Labour Day)
5 - Have the bank mail you account statements every month to show the activity in that account. Read it when it arrives and contact the bank right away if a charge is on it that you don't recognize.
6 - Keep track of your day to day spending on a small notepad.
7 - Pay bills in person if possible, if not, through your bank branch and always at the same time on the same account.
Getting into these regular habits will make it much more difficult for others to access your bank account. Never giving out your financial info online is always a good thing and never do banking online either (a bit paranoid, but better too safe than one bit too easy to access)... |

Google could've only done an EFT draft from your account if you willingly gave your information to them. They'd have to have your routing and account number which obviously you provided them with those numbers. Sorry, you're sol kid. |

Just call the bank and let them know you know longer want to have that amount drafted from your account from that source. They will tell you how to accomplish it. |

If you use a debit card, you have to call and tell them that there are fraudulent charges on it, and ask for a new one. Also tell them you are not paying for the fradulent charges. |

Call your bank RIGHT NOW and tell them what happened and ask them what to do. They deal with things like this all the time. |

call 1-800-226-5228 and speak to a client representative. they will take your information, file a claim, and start the process to get your money back to you. They will mail you some forms which you will have to sign and mail back. (In order to speed up this process, go into your local BB&T office and speak to a Relationship Banker.) As long as you sign all of the necessary paperwork, you will receive all of your money back in 7-10 business days unless they find that you did indeed initiate the charges. You will need to go into a BB&T to open a new account as soon as possible so that any legitimate charges (debit card purchases and checks that you wrote) can be posted to the new account. Please do all of this as soon as possible as you only have a limited amount of time to dispute charges on your statement!
BB&T will redirect any direct deposits you have coming into the old account until you can have it switched with your employer and if what they are taking out is not what you agreed to then you are not liable for any of the charges. Report it to the bank immediatly!!! |

Go to the bank immediately and tell them that this is a bogus charge. Then ask them what to do to keep this from happening in the future. It is possible they will get your money back for you and not charge you the overdraft. Banks are usually very helpful to their account holders. A bank we used, once excused huge overdraft charges for my daughter because she misunderstood how her debit card worked. So talk to the bank and see what they can do to clear this up for you. |

You will have to pay OD charges if and only if you have opted for this facility otherwise you can refuse to pay. To block your bank account write an application to the Branch Manger and tell him about the situation and ask his to disable that particular facility. |

The only way to make it permanently stop, is to CLOSE your current bank account. You can reopen one at the same bank, but it will be a different account number, so any auto-payments or direct deposits you have will need to be fixed.
Your other option is to talk to your bank. BB&T will let you fill out an affadavit that you did not authorize the charge from google. They will research it, and may refund you the money. Talk to a representative in person, and very kindly explain your dillema. If this is the first time you have overdrafted your account, they may refund the overdraft fee. If its not the first time, don't bother asking - its not your fault this time, but you've been irresponsible before, so most banks won't budge. |
