Without getting into what he actually did,it is true that the winners always name the losers "evil" |

Uhm.......no! I'm thinking it might be the thousands he killed in the concentrations camps. Just a thought. *ahem* |
|

whoops :)

hitler is not evil because he lost the war, he's evil because he had 12 million people BRUTALLY murdered...even though they had done nothing!!! and because he sexually abused his neice leading to her commiting suicide |

No the man is evil for deciding who would live or die in order to achieve what He called the perfect race. imagine, if he had it his way most of you wouldn't be here today. things like allergies were weaknesses and had to be bred out of the gnome, Therefore its likely that your parents or even your grandparents would have been destroyed |

This is one stupid question, dumass. Hitler ordered the killing of millions of Jews. I thank god he lost the war. |

NO. YOU IDIOT!! He was a homicidal megalomaniac. Have you ever read A book.
I can't believe some of your questions.
Do you do this just to p*ss people off? |

Yes, i agree....
Also, it is claimed that he did things that didn't happen at all.... |

No, he is considered evil, not because he lost the war, but because he lost his mind. The "good" he did is overshadowed by the horror that followed. Some of my fellow answerer's should open more than a few books as was suggested. They are just a little off in some of their facts. And yes, I lost many of my family members in that war. I'm not Jewish; millions of others were killed as well. It's just not as well publicized. Hitler's personal physician fed him many combinations of drugs that caused him to go insane. He was afraid, and that led to suffering; which led to hate, and finally to insanity. |

Hitler was no more evil than the peole around him but had nothing to do with losing a war nazism was the real evil |

No, but I see what you're getting at.
The thing is, doing horrible things to other people is not progressive (obviously). Time is progressive. People, because of different circumstances, mental illness etc...do horrible things, and they can last for a while, but always, a more progressive stance is eventually taken.
Look at just America and civil rights: had the south won the war, we would be very far behind where we are now, for sure, but eventually we would advance and become more tolerant...it's the way time works. Had Hitler won, things would be awful right now, and your probably right, he wouldn't be seen as evil by so many people (but certainly by many progressives, but eventually it would have become a consensus. (we're talking many centuries here)
It's the same reason why this whole gay-adoption thing is a non-issue, it's already been decided, there is obviously no reason they shouldn't, we've already granted others civil rights and such, it's already been decided. It's certainly something worth fighting for, trying to speed things up, but there's no chance that homosexuals won't receive the same civil rights as others eventually. |

Are you an idiot or something? Here is a related observation---Lee Harvey Oswald is considered a bad guy because he jaywalked after assassinating President Kennedy. |

No. Hitler was branded as evil because he came to power through force and fraud; he used the power of government to persecute innocent people; he abrogated every treaty he ever signed and attacked other nations without provocation; his government used terror against innocent civilians; and he planned to starve his own people when he should have known the war was lost.
He was one of the most evil SOBs in history, and not just because he lost the war. |
|

YA is a sham
|
Hitler was insane if he thought the best way to help his country was to exterminate an antire race of people. |
|

strtriton
 |
No. He is branded evil because he ordered the killing of innocent people. Then when it was his turn to feel the wrath of his actions he took the coward's way out. He could have been very good for Germany if he did not want to rule the Earth. He went too far. |

You forgot he ate little babies as well. |

A man who loses a war fair and square is a loser. A man who kills millions because of their religion, eats babies and makes lampshades out of human skin is EVIL. |

No he is considered Evil cause of what he did to the Jews during the war,we did not consider the Japanese emperor Evil for fighting us,because he did not take a race of Humans and try to make them extinct. |

no i don't, he was branded evil because of all the Jews he killed in those concentration camps, along with all those that apposed him and the mentally handicapped.. all the experiments he had done on deformed children.. i could go on and on ...... |
|

no he is evil because of the people he killed and tortured |

No. He is branded evil for being a cold blooded killer, egotistical racist pig. |

6 million Jews died because of him. He's evil because of his actions against humanity.
Now, if you're just asking the question from a historian's point of view..then I would be inclined to agree but also say that you're stating the obvious: If Hitler won we wouldn't be calling him evil because he'd probably censor and restrict opinions against him. |
|

just me
|
How about all the people that were killed in concentration camps? like my great-grandparents...
they weren't even jewish or anything, they were just placed in concentration camps because Hitler's army took over their village. |
|

fatt_and_juicy
|
no, I think he was evil because he wanted to kill innocent people. |
|

hell no. he's evil because he ordered people to kill a lot of jews and other kinds of people. |

i dont agree

Ummm... yes he was evil, but, in fairness, don't make up lies to make him seem even more evil:
He did not eat babies.
He did not make lampshades out of human skin.
He did not sexually molest his niece.
He is evil for what he did do, not for what he didn't. By exaggerating his atrocities you turn him into a caricature, and the lessons to be learnt instead get lost in fiction.
