Options:
a) Select the area within the Xls file that you would like to transfer to Word, copy it and paste it in a new blank word document.
b) Open your Word, go to open files, this dialogue box shows 2 options in the bottom, one for the file name and the other in the bottom for file type, select this and select the option all files, this way you will see the name of your Xls file name and you will be able to open it in word, but must of the time it come out completely wrong... so I still recommend you to use option A

you can't. xls files are for microsoft excel (spreadsheets) and word is for word documents. you can insert a spreadsheet into a word document. there should be a icon on your microsoft word toolbar that looks like a small spreadsheet with a green X on it. then choose however big you want your spreadsheet to be. |

Do you mean Import the xls file to word if yes then this is how you do it. Click where you want to insert the second document.
On the Insert menu, click Insert File.
In the File name box, enter the name of the file you want to insert, or browse to locate the file. |

I would suggest highlighting it all (control-a), copying it (control-c) and then pasting it into a Word document (control-v). |

An easy way is to open them in Word, save it, and it will convert for you. However, the formulas won't work. |

If you open Word and then go to open and file and select the excel file you want to convert to Word, it will attempt to convert it for you.
You may get a message saying you need to install a component, but all you do is put in your orignal installation CD and it does it for you.
If you don't have the CD to install the component you can just copy and paste the data from Excel to Word, it will paste an Excel table into the word document, you can copy charts etc over the same way. |
