No, forget the sharpie. You'll have to win your boss' confidence in you, and your abilities. Don't be a "yes man", but don't be openly rebellious either. It is going to take discipline, and diplomacy. Education will help, as well as being available for projects that need to be done. Never put personal gain above doing what is right for others, yet avoid antagonizing the boss. If you have an idea, pose it as a question that the boss has to answer. You may not get credit for the idea, yet eventually, you may be recognized as a person worth being in a position of leadership. |

Show the willingness to learn and know everything that is to be known regarding your job. Also learn something about the job above yours. |
