It depends on your state. Try either a local gun store or the police station and they will help you. Good luck !...and remember, if u obtain a gun for home defense, most bullets are able to penetrate walls with ease thus endangering people in your house. Buy energy scattering rounds or try a shotgun with buckshot. |

Yeah just go to the sheriffs office in your area to fill out a permit application. I think it takes about 30 days to get a permit and you need one before you can buy a gun. |

depends on where you live of course. If you are over the age of 21 go to the sherrifs office... and fill out a purchase permit. You'll need that before any dealer will sell you a gun. Most won't even open the case, without it. You must go back to the cop shop for the gun to be inspected. This is so that the gun and it's serial numbers are registered to you. If you want a carry permit, this is where the fun begins. You have to get the paperwork, again from the cop shop, a detailed background check is done, finger prints are sent to the state police and FBI, they send the results back to the gun board. In the mean time, you have to take a class on firearm safety, which is really common sense issues. After all the requierments are met, you are able to carry the weapon on your person. I would suggest, to you that this is an awsome responsablility. Remember, even if you do shoot someone in self defense, you are going to jail. It's now your job to show a burdon of proof you had reason to shoot this person. I've had mine for years, and only once thought that I may have to produce the weapon. Remember first and formost, if you get anything out of this answer, this is the most important. Firearms are tools, used to kill. Don't produce that tool, until you are certain, you are ready to kill what's in front of it! |
