search online with the major credit card companies... stay away from 3rd party companies who make alot of promises that sound too good to be true.
mastercard is nice so is discover, i'm not sure anymore but discover had some limits such as some stores didn't take it and airlines, trains... but sears (i think still?) is hooked up with discover if you shop sears alot that may help.
both companies are rather considerate if trouble arises and if you miss many payments they're a bit less harsh to you but they still want their money.
discover goes as far as to send you well wishes and ask you gently to call them immediately.
:D
visa is tough, but you can take it anywhere..
look for low interest cards.. don't miss a payment because that low interest won't last... get cards with lower credit amounts and try to find the one's with 0% interest the first year.
very low apr is best...
juniper bank has mastercard, they're rather nice and got a real nice website to maintain your account and very nice printable options for your records in case there's something wrong.
they listen to. or they used to.
http://www.juniper.com/
they have 0% first year i think and run specials sometimes if you're a good account holder and don't miss payments.
watch out if you keep your payments up they'll keep increasing your amounts but don't fall too hard.
also watch out for cards that offer too much like gas back or free flying and get a car or special offers that make no sense.. what you need is a card with money and low interest.. that's all.
all this cash back and fringe benefits really don't hold up that well.
especially if you're lower income or middle-middle class.
hey... even upper middle class all these frills just don't benefit, if you don't use it don't get a card that offers it, just a waste of time and too costly in the long run.
he he sorry this seems like an advertisment but no it's through experience, juniper treated me well along with my discover card banks.
visa is cool but watch out i've had too many problems with visa over time, first year it's nice but after that complications arise they want to change their terms without notice and then there's discrempancies with the billings or they change banks that hold the card over and over and i got tired of it and closed the account and when you do that watch out! they'll want you to bend over backwards to kiss their rump because you wish to close the card. |

Go to Orchardbank.com, they offer credit cards, even if you dont have good credit. The interest rate depends on your credit score. I had BAD credit and they offered me a credit card with 9.9% interest. It is a great card to re-build your credit, they report to all 3 credit agencies every month. |

If i am taking it that you cant get one through normal means (Applying for one) then you can go to netspend.com and get a reloadable visa card that you place your own funds into, up to $5000. 00 and can use it anywhere in the world visa is accepted. This is not a Visa "credit" card, it's more of a preloaded "gitcard" with the visa logo.
The other option, is to apply for a "secured" visa card, this will require you place a certain amount of money into an interest bearing savings account with the bank, and they will establish a credit card in your name. The amount of credit can range from bank to bank and depends on your "risk" factor or FICO score, but is usually $1 credit for each $1 in the bank, but can be as much as $2 credit for each $1 in the bank. Orchard Bank does secured credit cards for personal and Wells Fargo does them for business, good way to establish business credit.
If your credit is really good, then you can just apply for a regular visa card from any bank. For a small business, OPEN from Americn Express is really good, but this is an AMEX card, not visa...
Hope this helps! |
