Live through it a few times, and you'll get to where, even though your nerves are still all standing at attention, you'll be able to get up there and mask your nervousness.

The best thing you can do is make sure you are completely prepared. If you are giving a speech, don't try memorizing it. That puts even more pressure on you. Instead, practice delivering it multiple times; visualize the audience that will be at your presentation.

When you actually deliver your presentation, you don't have to make real eye contact. Instead, look just above the eyes, at the forehead or hair line. You have to look up, you have to look confident and comfortable, but unless you speaking to a room of 2 or 3, they'll never know that you're not actually looking them in the eyes!

To release some energy, try doing something physical before going to present. Take a run, do some situps, lift weights - anything to use up some of that nervous energy. (I don't mean enter the stage totally out of breath, but a couple hours before . . )

I am a stage performer, and I still get the biggest butterflies before any performance, but once I'm on stage and in the role, it just starts working!

I know you will do just fine!

Just keep doing it! You'll always be a little nervous, but with time, you'll have no problems, and you can use the nerves to keep you focused, steady and relaxed.

Work on some relatively simple topics of which you have pretty good knowledge, that can help you build up the confidence to present well. Then try something harder..

Almost everyone gets nervous when speaking in front of a group. Sometimes it helps to practice speaking in front of a mirror. Be very familiar with what you want to tell your audience. It helps relieve tension if you can assume a friendly, relaxed tone. Don't try to be someone you're not. Know your audience. Talk to them in a way that you would to a friend. It helps break the ice if you can share a funny anecdote they can relate to. Look for a friendly, smiling person in the audience. Pretend you're speaking just to him or her. Generally, since almost everyone is afraid to speak to a group, people are very understanding of your fear.

You know the cliche to imagine everyone in their underware?

It works!

First, know what you are talking about. Know even more than you have in your presentation. Then, when you are making your presentation, remember that you know more about your subject than anyone in your audience. Try to figure out what your audience might find especially interesting about your topic. I'd also suggest you have a couple of props--something you could show the audience. These could be things with informational value or things people might find humorous. One more thing, try to remember to speak clearly and perhaps a bit slower than you normally would, or at least vary the speed of your delivery. Try to look as if you are enjoying yourself. Good luck.

I find it easier to rehearse something so often that it gets ingrained in my brain and then going up to speak. I work at Universal Orlando and have a set speech that I have to follow every fifteen minutes in front of 300 guests. I was really nervous at first, but the more I did it, the less nervous I am.

Also, while you practice, if you make a mistake, keep going without starting over. This will help you get everything down, not just the beggining.

Edit:
By ingrain, I don't mean to memorize it, just the routine of what you want to say when. If you memorize it, you could get lost and then completely mess up.

Deep breaths and calm thoughts. Be like that train and keep on saying, I CAN DO IT! You will get nervous though so when you do take deep breaths and speek clearly.

Practise first before some friends and get a good night sleep the few days before you must present.

practice and know what you are talking about

me personally, i drink a large glass of cold water and i try not to think about the presentation the ten minutes before it happens.
then whilst presenting, i know they saw eye contact is a must, but i just stare at the air above everybodies heads, this way it gives an illusion of making eye contact, and it keeps my nerves down

tranquil
Go over it in your mind as if you are actually doing the presentation (confidently, I may add); "see" who will be attending, what time it is, where it is, how the place looks like. The more vivid the picture, the easier it becomes on the actual day.

Know the material, practice in front of a mirror and friends and/or co-workers. Lay off caffeine before giving presentation.

It really depends you know? Umm... I personally just think to myself "okay some of these people may be looking at you really weird right now and some may not like you but come on now do you really think your going to see any of these people again? What are the chances right?" That's when you presenting infront of a crowd youve never seen before other then that......ummm your screwed!!......JUST KIDDING!! lol No really uhh you can just pretend your around your friends and your talking to them about an issue you have or the schools latest gossip. See if you just think about what they're thinking about you right now then that takes away from you presentation and be realistic do you think anyone is REALLY paying any attention? Not trying to sound rude but honestly ask yourself have you ever been to an assembly where you were there to see someone speak and you actually payed attention? Huh? No. But when you act nervous and start to mess up is when ALL eyes are on you and then things get way out of hand because there are a million things going on in your mind and you can't concetrate on your presentation and more and more people start to look at you because now they know your scared shittless and they are going to try they're best to make you screw up, because they're stupid little brains think it's funny to watch people fall apart onstage. What you have to do is go up there with all the confidence in the world and blow them out of they're seats!!! In that case they just think your presentation is going to be a bore and no one looks at you, I know that sounds mean but it's a really big help on your part right because no ones looking at you. lol
Well I hope you take my advice and even if you don't I hope you do really well and still blow them away. =)
