Well, the school doesn't know exactly what each student is going to use and when. Even in highly specialized teaching programs (such as a major in college) will give out information that not everyone is going to use. So they try to give you a wide array of knowledge so that you're most prepared for whatever life throughs at you. |

a large part of what school does, in my opinion, is not to teach you things that you need to know, but to instead teach you how to learn. yeah, you'll never need to know when some president's birthday is, but someday you might have to remember your bosses or something right? being familiar with the concept of memorization of certain things helps you to learn the things you'll WANT to know in the future. also, what the other guy said, they're trying to prepare a class of 30 +- students. but to expand on that, they're also exposing you to things you might not have known about before they mentioned it, and maybe it WILL become a prioritized interest of yours. ja? |
