... there's someone sitting at a desk telling you "hi" as you walk in and what aisle you should go to, but then you're on your own, wandering the aisles looking for what you need?
up and down the aisles, looking more and more confused and frustrated, and all the people who are approached with help look like they don't need it anyway...
You also see groups of employees enjoying social time while on the clock ignoring customers.
I can't stand that. Bad customer service is bad for business, and "add on" sales are better than no sale at all.
I just don't get it. |

I have had this same experience several times in the past and each and every time I went in there it just got worse. I will not shop there til this day because of it! I go into Lowes and it's better there. If I can't find something in Home Depot look for someone up front and ask for a manager to help you find and express your concerns to them! I know business is business, but this is no way to treat customers who give them their only business! Bad business IS bad business, period! |

Have the same problem there also, If I where to go back there I think I ask an Mexican out on the curb of help, with them not even speaking English they would be more help full that some of the orange smock wherein people there. |

You should be complaining to the manager or corporate office about this. Especially if it happens all the time. They will really want to know. If enough people complain, something will be done about it. |

I work there...
there are certian places you can always go for help. Any desk in the store should have someone at it with the ability to page the proper person for your question. The service desk up front is the best place to find the help if there is no one in the department you are looking for help in.
As for why it happens, there are less people there during the week, and on the weekends there are more people there to help, but at the same time more customers to help. In the middle of the day there should be an overlap of shifts putting multiple associates in each department.
The new CEO has put customer service back at the top of the list of goals for the company, but he has only been in charge since the end of last year. If you really are tired of the customer service fill out the customer survey at the end of your receipt, and name names of associates that give bad customer service. They won't be there much longer, and will hopefully be replaced with people that care. |

its a huge place........ when i find help ... they are really helpful. its the type of place that is really busy and really dead at times.
standing on concrete all day is horrible for your knees. its good for them to lean on a desk and chat... its easier to find them that way.
you eitheer go there or Lowes if you have one. they have stuff that you cant get anywhere else for that price. i dont think they are that concerned . when remodeling etc is up ... they do great business.... when things are slow......... in general i am sure the whole store slows down. |

Maybe its still going on at Your Home Depot because you are complaining to Yahoo answers who can't do anything about it. Go back into Home Depot and complain to the appropriate people. They can't help you or make it better if you don't state your complaint |

Well go to the manger and tell them about what the employes are doing. And if that doesn't work bring a friend along to get more of an opion and when you are really confused go stand up to the soical group. maybe they'll get the picture and if they'll still not do it tell them that you are getting their names and reporting them to the manger. |

Home Depot is for contractors that know what they are doing. I've been to home depot and know what I need to get so it's not a big deal for me going there. |
