Some religion sects claim that Jesus did have a brother, but I don't know where this is evidenced in scripture or history. He called all of us his brothers, since we are all God's children - some say that perhaps Mary and Joseph had a biological son so they would be like half-brothers, but also I don't know where this idea comes from.
I would like a little more info. please on where you learned that Jesus had a brother. |

Jesus didn't have a biological brother. Mary was a virgin, even up to the time she entered Heaven, body and soul. Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit, so Mary was a virgin when she had Jesus. She could not have borne more children because there have been no records of her immaculately conceiving and of having borne more children. (If she bore more children that were not conceived through the Holy Spirit, then she wasn't be a virign, thus, the dogma of her Conception would not exist.)
Jesus was the only one that God made through the Holy Spirit (which is also God, as part of the Holy Trinity), thus people say that God gave the world Jesus, His only son.
But since God is our Father, then we are all brothers and sisters of Jesus, and in Jesus, because he restored to us the experience of God as Father.

The Bible never gives an exact count, but Jesus’ siblings are mentioned in several Bible verses. Matthew 12:46, Luke 8:19, and Mark 3:31 say that Jesus’ mother and brothers came to see Him. Jesus had four brothers: James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas (Matthew 13:55). Jesus also had sisters, but they are not named or numbered (Matthew 13:55-56). In John 7:1-10, His brothers go on to the festival. In Acts 1:14, His brothers and mother pray for Him. Later in Galatians 1:19, it mentions that James was Jesus’ brother. The most natural conclusion of these passages is to interpret that Jesus had actual blood siblings. There is no Biblical reason to believe that these siblings are not the actual children of Mary and Joseph. They were obviously born after Jesus, because Jesus was born of a virgin (Isa 7:14; Luke 1:26-38). |

The thing about what Jesus teaches is that we are all supposed to have the same mind as Him, to have like minds. The sad part is that people take that teaching to their own level, they act in the name of God by judging people, etc., all because they believe they are the same mind of Christ simply because they worship Him.
Mary had more than one son.
We are meant to have God live inside of us. And in this way He is even still the only son of God, even though He is alive in many. |

God chose the virgin Mary to be the mother of Jesus through miraculous conception. Although he was not conceived in the traditional way, Mary gave birth to Jesus like any other mother would. Mary and Joseph went on to have James and John--Jesus's brothers. |

Jesus was God's only Son, but His mother Mary did have other children after He was born.
In the book of Matthew there is verse that states that:
Matthew 12:46
While Jesus was still talking to the crowd, his mother and brothers stood outside, wanting to speak to him.
The birth of Jesus was prophecized in the Old Testament, and his mother was a virgin till the time of His birth. Jesus' birth fulfilled sooo many prophecies.
So He was the Son of God
In fact, archeaology have just discovered a ossuary (tomb-like coffin that held bones) that had "James-brother of Jesus" etched in stone.

when joseph married mary he was in his thirtys he was already married and had children (wife had died) therefore the brothers and sisters were step brothers and sisters |
