How do I beat Bank of America?
They are gouging me for $280 in overdraft fees. I need help!!!
Additional Details
Ok for starters, I didn't write hot checks. My wife went to lunch a few times and didn't give me a receipt or two, so I maybe overdrafted $50, add bank of america's fees and its 280 for a few bucks.

Bank of America did that to me, too. And I did NOT bounce any checks or overdraw on my account. The problem is, the way they have it set up is that your purchases take too long to post to your account, then they post them all at once and it somehow makes an overdraft appear on your account. In my opinion, it's a total scam and it's purposely set up that way. Far too many people are having this same exact issue with them, and I know not EVERYONE is overdrawing their accounts on a regular basis like that.

The only real option is to switch to a different bank. I switched to Wachovia 6 months ago, and I've not had one single issue with them. Wachovia has been great!

story of my life, friend.

cry and go in person. dont talk to them over the phone. tell them your children and parents and puppy just died. and that youre contemplating suicide because you owe someone $280 and theyre just gonna kill you anyways.

good luck. theyre hella stingy.

As bad as I hate to say it, its either pay it or not be able to get another checking account. The banks now are all joined where if you owe to one bank another wont let you open an account. The overdraft fees are crazy anymore, but at least you dont have alot of bad checks out

Maybe you shouldn't spend more than you have. Problem solved.

gregory_usa83
You cannot.. you agreed to these fees when you got and signed up for the account .. see fine print, You could ask them nicely to stop allowing charges to your over drafted account.. remember every 5 days they hit you with a penalty on the amount your over draft is.. Usually $56. each additional charge against your account is probably $28 .. just call them and be nice..or go in and find the ugliest teller there and be really friendly and flirty .. she can get some of the charges dropped with a few choice key strokes.. plus put a hold on your account so nothing else get drafted against it.. remember fattest and ugliest and be supper flirty..

Stop writing checks for money that you don't have in your account.

What?
put some money in your account. So your checks stop bouncing.

1. Ask for overdraft protection so if you overdraft your checking the amount will get pulled out of your savings.

2. Budget yourself by taking out a certain amount of money in cash to use between your paychecks... once you are out of that money wait until your next payday or use whatever is in the bank as a backup. This will help with overdrafts.

3. Don't use ATM machines that are not BOA & avoid extra fees.

4. Keep your checking ledger up to date so you'll remember what you have spent that may not have been taken out of your account yet. That way you won't forget that something is pending & overdraft.
