If this is an ongoing problem where you are consistently not sleeping enough it is a serious medical problem that can be treated. Your doctor would be the person to talk to. |

The weather channel puts me out pretty quick myself. Otherwise avoid excerise and caffeine several hours before bed.No naps during the day. Have you tried any of the over the counter alternatives? Tylenol PM maybe. |

Ask your doctor for Ambien. You'll fall right asleep and wake up feeling just fine. |

I had insomnia so bad I would be up for days. After years of suffering I tried to go on disability. The doctor that was assigned to me from SS found on of my medications (blood pressure) was causing the insomnia. After I stopped taking them I had no more problems sleeping. Check what medications you are taking make sure a common or adverse effect is not sleeplessnes. The cuprit for me was Hydrochlrothiazide (HCZT) |

Stop injesting caffeen. Excercise in the fresh air. Eat a balanced diet. Eliminate stimuli (TV, Internet, loud music, cell phone etc.) a few hours before attempting to sleep. Keep a schedule of getting to bed at the same time every day. |

First see your doctor. They make really AWESOME sleeping pills these days. Second, you need to find a routine you go thru every night before bed. Like reading a book, watching a boring tv show, playing a mindless game like tetris, etc. No caffiene after 3pm. |

Health food stores and most pharmacies carry melatonin. Melatonin is an over the counter supplement so it does not require a prescription. It is what the brain makes to cause sleep. I don't know your age, but if you are a teen don't use more than 1.5mg for your first try with it. It is very effective to break insomnia.
If you wish to skip a pill and get melatonin (or tryptophan which is a melatonin chemical precursor) from food sources, consume some of the following foods about 20 to 60 minutes before bedtime: milk, turkey, oats, banana.
To trigger your own brain's production of melatonin you could try darkness. This is one of the triggers of melatonin production in your brain.
Hope this helps. |

Watch any of the following helpful channels to get to sleep:
~ Weather Channel
~ Political Debate Channel
~ That Religious Channel (the one with all nuns saying the same thing over-and-over-and…)
OR
~ That channel that never has any sound but always displays like public emergency warnings
And if none of these do it - take drugs! (I mean like Lunesta or something after consulting a doctor) |
