No one believes me when I tell people this, but I have done it for years, and have talked other people into try it and it has worked for them (I sound like an info. merchial). Fill a regular sized cup up with water, tear off one sheet of paper towel and place it over the top of the cup. Now, just drink the water (as much as you can) through the paper towel. It sounds ridiculous but it works. |

Take a drink from the wrong side of a glass of water...always works for me
(try and do it over a sink though in case you spill any!) |

You're going to get a lot of responses to this question because everyone has a different strategy. Different techniques work for different people. Whenever my wife gets them i scare the crap out of her and that works, of course, it also makes her angry at me. For me, i do push ups or some kind of vigorous exercise for about a minute and it seems to distract my body enough to get rid of them. This technique always works for me. However, if i'm not in the mood for a workout i'll try drinking water by taking numerous small swallows and then holding my breath. This strategy works sometimes and doesn't work sometimes. its success rate is not as good as the exercising technique. Good luck. |

Hold your breath for as long as possible. Then swallow. You might have gathered spit in your mouth or something. That will help you swallow. It if you didnt gather any, no prob still swallow. If that doesnt work, then drink 1/2 - 1 glasses of water and drink it in very tiny sips. If 1 and 2 dont work then let some one scare you so that you sort of recoil. |

A spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down but it also will help cure you of the hiccups. The sugar works on the nerve endings, and this interrupts the spasms. Norwegian villagers did this and it was also more recently written in an American medical journal. |

you can't get rid of it permanently but you can try not breathing or inhaling or exhhaling air for like 15 secs. or drink water! or pinch one of your finger tips really hard (but not the "oh-no-my-finger-is-bleeding-because-i-p... hard" kind. exage! hahaha.)and don't breathe at the same time. |

Hold your breath right before you hicup, repeat this for several times and they should go away. |
