Convince your goal to the employees.
Direct the employees as to what needs to be done? how it is to be done? and when it should be done?
Provide the employees the freedom to talk wherever necessary because discussions increase quality of work.
Allow them to work as a group whenever necessary.
Assure that the employees are getting an adequate wage.
Talk with the employees directly about their problems and thereby you may be able to find out the reason for why they have become less productive. Whenever the employer becomes closer to their employees they will respect him and they will work their best for him.
Whenever the employees get sick, remember, at least, to ask them "what they want".
Allow them to have tea break at least twice a day.
Always remember to appreciate their work when they are doing better. This will encourage others to work because people are eager to have a feedback and they get a larger satisfaction whenever they are appraised. Do it in public because they like it.
Provide the employees with sophisticated equipments so that they can do the tasks quickly and in a better way.
Lower their effort higher their interest on their job will be.
Good luck! |

Productivity targets might help, as may better working conditions, more breaks, a shorter day, music in the work place, subsidised meals, free tea and coffee etc. |

Do you have worker unions, let them meet and find out if they have any grievances.
How are your competitors (if any ) treating their workers?. Introduce incentive schemes and targets so that apart from their normal wages targets met will attract incentives.
How involved are you yourself in the business? Let them see your involvement.
Get supervisors who will make sure their subordinates work and give them SMART targets with Bonus schemes. |

How do you teat your workers? low moral has alot to do with low productivity. If I respect my boss and feel like im respected and important I will work my *** off for them otherwise I will do just enough to get by. and you dont get my respect just by being my boss! also the age has alot to do with it,you get more out of an olderpersonYoung ones alot of time want everything too easy. Check out the moral, talk to your workers, find out what they want. |

Productivity often dips when staff morale is low. Has something changed recently? Has someone left or there been a change in their working day? The key is to finding out the catalyst for this dip. I would say try and improve communication between staff and management - maybe anonymous questionnaires about what its like to work for you and what they would like to see introduced. If staff feel listened to and valued, they will naturally want to work harder. Introducing piecemeal work can sometimes be effective but wont eradicate this low morale which will lead to high staff turnover and more problems in the long term.
You have to make them realise the benefits of working for you! |

IT sounds like you have a serious lack of communication. you need obviously to call an emergentcy staff meeting with every workforce member and knock ideas around about how to make the business enviroment more pleasant and manageable for everyone. manageing can be a stressful job so you*ve got to be at least abit cheerful even if stressed out itll effect your workforce big time. see what maybe bothering them if it seems like they are not pulling their weight and talk to them as you would a close friend dont come down on any of them too hard or you*ll shake their confidence and when ever you approach them again they worry and freeze up you wont get the best out of them. Remember a happy workforce is a happy manager and vice vesa and within days or weeks you will notice the difference in productivity. all the best ! |

How can you tell? Can you find out the why? Will incentives work for you or are employees just not pulling their weight?
