I advise that you stay away from preachers. Who wants to be converted by someone that's so eager? Treating yourself, people, animals, and the environment with respect shows respect for God.
If there is a God, he wouldn't be mad at you for being cynical. Afterall, he doesn't make his presence proven.
I advise keeping away from the things that distract you in life. Living in the moment, and in harmony with your surroundings, as opposed to isolating yourself, shows that you live in Harmony with God.
Also, cleanliness is close to Godliness. If your surroundings are cluttered, so is your mind. That means you can not see any signs, even when they are right in front of your eyes.

Actually it is really something so simple as just talking to Him and asking Him to love you...I believe there is a God and I know He loves you too...that is how you start and His Holy Spirit will show you how to love God. |

My best advice is to talk to a preatcher, but how can you not love God, or believe when you look at a sunset, children playing in the sun, or feel the sand under your feet on a beach. Take a minute and look around you there are a lot of bad things in this world, but stop looking at bad, and look at the good things. |

Based on your question, it seems that you are having trouble doing this, if this is the case then it seems that you are fighting against your instincts.
Many people are brought up in a religious environment, which conditions them from an early age to feel that they need to have a belief in a god. However in todays society where people are highly educated and exposed to more knowledge than they have ever been previously exposed to. Many of these people, intelectually or subconsciously feel or know that these beiefs make no sense either to them or to the world overall.
Unfortunately the early conditioning is hard to break, and these people go though their lives in a state of confusion or dillema.
If you feel this is you then spend some quiet time to yourself (take a solo holiday if needs be) ask yourself the questions write down your thoughts, sleep on those thoughts... In general analyse yourself and see what you truely want from life, and see where religion fits in.
PS. before anyone critersies my suggestion it works both ways if you have god in your life then sitting down and communing with yourself will surely help reveal him to you. so the top part of my asnwer is my personal view... respect it... The second part is a dang good suggestion :)

I wouldnt worry yourself with the idea of god - If he exists he is within you...So the first thing you must do is come to terms with yourself, why cant you love god/yourself? I guarntee if you can ask yourself these questions and make an effort to change some of the actions you make you will be a much happier person and will live your life for you and not the idea of god ;-) Which i'm sure if there was a god he wouldnt want anyways....This Is Your Life! |
