Clearly every one who answered this question is a MORON because they didn't bother to read the WHOLE thing before answering.
Yes, there are some lazy bastards who just sit on the street & ask for money. But there are also people, especially young people, who just don't have many life skills & they just need to take that first uncertain step towards stability & security.
If you are truly homeless, you can't be picky & say you don't want to go to a shelter. Go to a goddamn shelter. They are there to help you.
They will help you to get some decent clothes & look presentable, then you can start looking for a job. If you don't get the first job you apply for - keep trying! You don't have anything better to do except sit on the street.
Once you've got a job - save, save, save. If you have a drinking, gambling or drug problem - get help! Otherwise you're just going in circles.
It won't happen overnight, but eventually you will have enough money to be able to afford cheap accomodation.
If you are homeless because of family conflict, consider the price you are paying just for being stubborn & not backing down from an arguement. Is it worth it? Maybe you should consider trying to work things out with your family.
The first step is to WANT HELP.
The second step is to ASK FOR IT. Stuff your pride in your pockets & ask for help!
Remember, you can be so much more than realise. |

go to a frind/family and stay there while u get a job, then get an apartment or something.
but a side note: if you live in a city with a cafe where u have internet access, or a library, you could be online there...you dont have to have internet access at home to be online |

ok guys what if the guy is serious. could be using another homeless friends computer or something. He also said, "how do i get out of being homeless" not i am homeless now. Now that is settled, get a job.. that is your answer. then you will have money for an apartment.See, how simple it can be. |

Well I'm not going to take you in. I know that shelters such as Pine Street Inn in Boston will teach you things so you can get a job and eventually a new life. It's worth looking into. |

This is not the safest advice you are going to get! You have to have some kind of a job. Then if you don't have a car to live in you can go to some of the bad parts of town where people are not picky about who their roomates are and find someone to rent you a room for $50 a week. Then as you save more money you can eventually get into a little nicer room and then maybe an efficiency apartment. It is a slow climb out off of the street but it will get you inside to sleep and get a shower. |

Well, I suggest that you should start being really really charismatic-charming/witty- on the streets. Here, I always see this one homeless dude that surprisingly has made a lot of friends, cause he's really charming and talks to a lot of people. He's usually out now at night, which makes me think that someone was won over by his attitude and spirit, and gave him a day job, which he's probably using for a place to live at |
