There are manufacturers out there who make 'shoe fresheners', check your nearest grocery store. I think either Avon or Sara Lee make these.
To make your smelly shoes smell sweet again:
- Clean your shoes BY HAND using a brush and a strong detergent. then let it dry.
- Apply 'shoe fresheners' or baking soda
- Or maybe the problem is your feet. Wipe your feet dry after taking a shower and before putting on your shoes. Foot powder or tawas works too.
- Do not put cologne or perfume, it will get worse.

Baby powder, wash them, or Gold Bond Medicated powder.. usually works for me.

Sprinkle baking soda in them and leave it for a day or two. The powder will soak up odors the same way it does in a refrigerator.

All good Answers, but anything you put onto a shoe can stain it of change the color of leather.
If you want a non-envasive way to take only the smell out. Use an Ionizer. Alpine Air Company sells them also at the Bay Brook Mall.

Put a bunch of newspaper in each shoe and it will soak up the bad smell. The sweet smell is all up to you.
