Hard to do, but I think the key is to make the most of your time with your wife and kids since you dont have much time to spend since you work so much. Its a matter of quality over quantity |

My Dad worked very hard as a welder. He did very good work, and often he was called out-of-town to do jobs.
Weekends, for the most part were scheduled. Saturday was Dad's day of rest and puttering around the house. On Sundays, we went to church. When we got home, we would change out of our Sunday church clothes and go to Grandma's, where my Dad would ask his Mom if she needed anything done around the house. Most of the time my Brother and I tagged along. We always tried to eat dinner together as a family. If you schedule your time, your family will not suffer from you going to work to provide for them. Dad used to take me to the park on Saturday mornings, after he took me out for breakfast. I learned more from my Dad than from my Mom about family socialization. That you are concerned speaks well of you as a man. |

Pay attention to them when you get home.
Make special times to play games with the entire family. Go ahead and set aside, say, Tuesday, anyday actually, but keep that date for a fun night with the kids.
Set aside another for a date night with your spouse, and find a sitter. |

I just love a guy who would ask this!! Good for you and your wife. Make sure to pay attention to your wife and have date nights regular. Your marriage comes above all else. And remember the old adage If she's happy, he's happy. If she's broken, the whole house is broken. Just keep a good understanding with your wife and she'll understand about work, but you have to know when too much work is really neglecting your home. Good luck! |

Quality is the most important thing, make the limited time you have together special. Doing things that center on your family, showing them how important they are. spending time with each of them on and individual basis can also be a good tool. |

Give every part of your perceived life the amount of attention it needs to satisfy each demand. |

Listen guy....I've tried it both ways, and being a husband or father, especially a father is more important then any job you can find.
If your not spending time with your kids or your wife or your girlfriend because of work....get another job.
And dont tell me that its the only job you can find.... I've changed careers four times...doing everything from carpentry to delivery work...just so I could be with my family.
Kids arnt impressed with how much money you make if your never there for them. What they are impressed with is you thinking that they are important enough to be with them. |

It's not easy, but I beleive it's not the quantity of time you spend with your children, but the quality. Making memories with your children is very important. Take one day at a time and make sure you tell them you love them and are proud of them and go from there. God Bless. |

Be home nights and weekends.
Don't miss ANY important event for your wife or children.
Always eat dinner at the table as a family.
Be Present in your home. Your children want to be just like you and they will. Your daughters will end up marrying a man just like you. You are their EVERYTHING. Be there. Your job can be successful 9-5 until they are out of the house. You get ONE chance to be a dad be home, and don't blow it. |
