You don't need Acrobat to make a PDF from a Word document..
Try this program called CutePDF..

It's free, and after you install it all you'll have to do is select Print from the File menu, and instead of sending your document to a printer, click CutePDF and it will generate a .pdf file for you. It's too easy...

You need Adobe Acrobat (not the free reader) to do that unless you can find a shareware or freeware program. |

You need Adobe Acrobat or Acrobat distiller. YOu can go to the Adobe Acrobat website and they'll let you convert a few files into PDF for free from their online converter. |

You must have software installed separate from word to create the pdf. On Windows you would need Acrobat Professional. On Mac OSX, writing to pdf is built into the OS. On linux there are several opens source utilities to export to pdf. |

You can print your document then scan it to yourself. We have a scanner that turns things into PDF. I wonder if Kinko's would have something like that and if it would be worth it for your project. |

You need the full adobe acrobat software, not just the adobe reader, once you have that you select the item you want to convert to pdf then click to print it, then instead of choosing a printer choose pdf, it will then be converted to a pdf file |

Future versions of Word will be able to save to pdf. if you can wait that long! Otherwise you need Acrobat Pro. |

change the extension to .pdf
to do this look at the files info or double click on it and change the .text or what ever other extension is there to .pdf.
A better idea is to 'Save As' though and just changer the extension there so you have a copy of the original too.
--you don't need Adobe to MAKE a pdf file, you just can't open or edit it without one. |

If your competer already recognizes PDF formats you can do a 'save as' and then chose from the file type drop down list under what you will be nameing the file PDF and that should change it. |
