If their unhappiness is personal, suggest they seek help, perhaps fram an employee assistance program. If they are complaints are just, ask how the problem could be remedied and try to help. If they are just plain whiners, tell them to straighten up, dissent breeds contempt. |

i ran a pizza store for a year. it never works, you just wont make everyone happy. be strong in your ambitions and interests for better service. if the employee doesnt wanna "play along" cut the hours, fire them, or waist your resources on someone whose not ready for you. you have to be in control though, if they have you pleasing them you've lost all ability to help. |

First find out WHY they are unhappy or frustrated. Most supervisors don't seem to even care. Then, see if there is something you can do to fix it. |

Fisrt: See is this employee worth keeping? If they are a good epmloyee you want to do what you can to keep em happy without jeopardizing your job, or being unfair to the other employees. talk to them and see if there is anything you can do to improve their work environment. Increase in pay is a last resort. Better to offer fringe beenfits....medical coverage, extra holiday time, things of that nature,. as it keeps your cot down, and those are tax deductible. |

usually making sexual advances or threats to their family is not a good idea. it is also not advised to offer them drugs or to call them racial slurs. hitting them is also not advised. however, some employers have had remarkable success with violence in some limited instances where they also bribe the local police and judges. just make sure you have enough political bribes in the market and can call in favors. that is what our lawyers told us. best of luck! |

all of the good intentioned responders need to pay attention to this. OP, please take very good notes about your interaction with the individual, also, you might want to see if another employee can corroberate any abusive behavior by the said employee. Notate every conversation that you have with the person, and do make sure that you have all of your ducks in a row. These guys can screw you over big time.
As for how to salvage the relationship, see if you can have a talk with the individual. try to avoid one on one conversations though. |

Sit down have a one on one chat with them and ask them whats making them angry. Do not make them feel bad. Lightly poke at the situation.
Or if you don't have enough time, give them a pay raise. |

I guess it would really depend on what the issue was. Put yourself in your employee's shoes. How would you want your manager/supervisor to approach you? Use your humanistic side when approaching an employee about a sensitive subject. Hope this helps! |
