A formal business letter is to be folded in 3rds from bottom-to-top. Therefore when it is opened, they will see the top of the letter accordingly. |

Put it upside down with the bottom of the letter to your right. Fold the bottom of the letter up toward the top a little over 1/3 of the way up. Use the envelope as your guide on how far to go up. It won't be a complete "thirds", the last part will be slightly smaller. It should be almost exactly the same size as the envelope. Now, fold the top (almost a 1/3) back to your right over the part you just folded. The top of your letter will now be showing. Take the letter, and place it into the envelope with the top 1/3 that shows facing to the left.
This way, when the receiving person opens it, they can see who it is from and easily pull the larger folded part out, grab it by the top 1/3 that shows the date, etc, and with one quick whip of the wrist, it opens right up to full page. Practice first. |

Fold up from the bottom so the receiver will lift the last fold that will show the top of the page and the sender. Always use the proper sized envelope. |

Yep, thirds. Just lay it down next to the envelope and fold in twice horizontally so it will fit inside the envelope. Keep it as symmetrical as possible. |

You fold it equally in threes; from the top, hit the middle and then the double bit to the end. Then use a business (legal) sized envelope. Place the letter in the envelope so that the top fold or open end of the letter is facing the back of the envelope. This makes it easier for the person receiving the letter to open it. |

If it is to fit in a normal envelope, you fold it in thirds. If it is really official, you put it in a letter size envelope and don't fold it at all. |

In thirds, with the name and address turned so that when the envelope is opened, it will be the first thing the recipient sees (i.e. facing toward the back of the envelope). Unless, of course, it's a window envelope, and then the address should be facing outward. |

Almost thirds - Fold the bottom up almost 1/3, fold the top down over the bottom fold so it hangs over the bottom fold just a little. Gives a flap to shake and open. Proper way to fold a business letter. |

I take the letter and fold about 1/3 of the way from the bottom and match it to the envelope that I am going to put it in. Then I fold over the top of the letter and put it in the enveope so when it is opened, the top of the letter comes up first. |
