You could get on a tall platform beside the elephant.
You could also have someone inflate a large moon-bounce thing (like at carnivals) and you could jump onto it. |

Most riding elephants are trained to kneel on command making the drop less drastic. You dismount as you would do a horse. If the elephant doesn't kneel, hopefully you can steer him/her to an embankment or large rock. |

I would recommend getting down from an elephant very carefully. Our neighbors were circus performers years ago, & they would have an elephant at their residence, once in awhile. I recall them having a small step stool at the elephant's side to slide down to. |

This brings back so many memories, drunken night in Bangkok, waking up to a beautiful Thailand morning on an elephant. Suggest you do what i did, drink more booze, you know you'll end up somewhere else by the time you sober up. |

It took me a long time before I learned how to get down with an elephant. They don't dance very well, and they tend to step on your feet, so be careful. I recommend hanging on to the animal's trunk and dancing around it. Elephants are slow and have no rhythm whatsoever. |
