my friend is hanging out with a really rude girl who called me and my friend awful names. Mostly my friend though. My friend thinks this girl is joking, but lately its gotten worse! I think my friend wants to be popular, but this is not how she should be treated just to be popular! I tried to help her and warn her that this girl is no good, and my friend keeps brushing me off and telling me i dont know what im talking about!! and also, my friend is getting a little meaner each day! what should i do? half of me wants to leave my friend, the other half wants to deal with the new changes and get to know the girl better, another part wants to tell the girl off, and the rest wants to cry!! help me!! |

Tell your friend that it looks like she wants to go a different way in her friendships and that you don't have much choice but to watch her go. Let her know you're there for her if she needs a friend but not to bring any hate or meanness to the table when she does, to leave it with the hater she's wanting to hang with now. It's tough to watch a pal go off in a direction you think is hurtful, KNOW is hurtful. Part of growing is discovering what you're really about though and there's something in this new friendship that she's trying to find in herself. There may also be an emerging masochistic nature to your friend that she's not shared with you before and this new friendship may be REALLY appealing in a way you can't relate to. My guess is that if you give her space, she'll remember who she is and what she's about and reconnect with you. If not then you need to understand that there are an awful lot of people out there who don't have the courage of their own convictions and are wildly uncomfortable with who they are. You sound totally grounded but I get the sense that your friend isn't. |

Tell your friend that you will always be her friend and will be there for her, you can't be around her while she is spending time with this other girl because you dont feel that you shuold be treated that way.
It may be hard to do, but hopefully she will realize what you said is true, although it may make her angry at first. |

If shes your friend she will always be your friend, I would try to give the new girl a chance, for your friends sake so she cant view you as being unfair. If you really really dont like this new girl tell your friend you dont ****** like that other girl and she can hang out with her but you arnt going to **say it with a attitude** if she wants to go off and just be her friend and not yours, its her loss not yours, most people would die for friends that had their backs like that, to many ppl dont care about their "friends" more then likely the girl your friends hanging out with now looks at your friend as a "friend" She will be back once she sees this new girl isnt dependable :) |

Ok here's what you can do. I did this and it's really an eye opener. Say this " hey you F$#% moron what’s up?" and if she gets upset ask her why. If she tells you she got upset because you called her names, then just point out the simple fact that you said this to open her eyes that it's not right for that other girl to call her names, and even though she doesn't mean it, it's still bad, and it's worse when you become numb to it. If she still doesn't get it then you brush her off. you sound young, hang on to your innocents, believe me once you get older you'll be glad you did! |
