Because she caught the attention of the middle class, female audience. Because she's one of the first women on television to do a show like this, not including Rosie and Ellen DeGeneres. She grabbed so many viewers, that she expanded her power to put out magazines and spread into a ton of different pockets of media everywhere. Now, when her viewers watch her show, and she name-drops an item, or trend, it will immediately become popular, disappearing of store shelves, etc. She also is in books. Her "club" helps sell a book, just because Oprah thought it was "cool". That is true power/authority. It's not even the bad kind. Simply, the ability to manipulate or to push an audience towards anything and everything she has an eye on. |

i honestly dont know. I DO know that she gives alot of money AWAY to charity.
REASONS :
1.) She is world Re-known and has also written many books that people constantly buy all around in every city (Ever thought of that?)
2.) Her DVD and CD Packages and Therapy Cd's and stuff (That sells too!)
3.) Her Television Show (The Oprah Show) has been going for YEARS
4.) Many sponsors of the Oprah show?
5.) AUDIENCE THAT PAYS TO WATCH THE OPRAH SHOW
6.) hmm.. loads of more merchandise and her website too!

easy, she has her own magazine which probably makes several hundreds of thousands of dollars every year, plus her billions she has amassed through out her career, putting a lot of that money in stocks and bonds that are going to gain interest, and a lot of that at that, you are going to be making hundreds of thousands in those 8 hours a night that you are sleeping, I'd imagine that and her tv show which she was number on rated for many years has gotten her to where she is at today, you don't make bad money investments and get to where she is at today right now |

Hard work, good luck (which comes from the hard work) a believe in herself, not scared of taking chances, and giving away as much as possible. If you give away, you'll get even more too give away. "The law of abundance" (The Secret) . An anecdote: Some gentleman did not believe that you must give away, after seeing one of Oprah's shows. As he was unemployed he walked around the mall one day, and saw a shoe store. For no known reason, he walked into the store and asked if they have odd pairs, out of style, and funny sized shoes floating around, cluttering up the store. "Yes we have, why?" "Oh, I want to give them to the homeless, a new pair of shoes is nicer than secondhands" Too make a long story short - his job is to collect and distribute odd pairs of shoes to the homeless.
Most of the replies above are negative jealous remarks, You can earn $300 million a year. Just put your mind and heart into it.
