Mine's already down.
Bought an "umbrella" christmas tree this year. Hooo boy that was easy setup and take down. The rest was about 15 mins of collection. I'm ready for Easter decorating now! |

I really like Joe's answer on this one, I think you better get that tree down! |

According to my wife, yesterday she said you should take it down. Since she is always right, you can ignore the other responses and mark mine as the best answer. |

In my house we leave it up until 6ht January at least, and remove it before the 10th or something like that. |

I would say anytime after New Year's Day is too long. What really bugs me is the people who are too darn lazy to take their Xmas lights down, so they leave them up all year long. Those people should just do us all a favor and never put them up in the first place. |

Christmas decorations traditionally only be displayed for the period Christmas eve to the 6th January (the Feast of Epiphany).
Epiphany being from the Greek word for "manifestation," it being both a celebration of the Christ's Baptism (later reduced by the Church authorities to the solemn blessing of the Baptismal water) and of the revelation to the Three Wise Men, or Kings, or Magi. |

Until the "Baptism of our Lord"... This year it's Monday, January 9, 2006.
A Christian Chistmas is supposed to start December 24th and last until the Baptism of the Lord. The retail department have changed this to meet their needs (profits), to have us celebrate Chrismas from thanksgiving until New Years. This time is "Advent" for us Christians. Now, we're still celebrating the birth of our Lord...CHRISTMAS...So, Happy Christmas. |

it's quite a task putting the decorations and the tree up, so it will also be hard to take it down, especially if you have kids, house work, and a job but try not to let it go past the tenth of january coz that would be tacky |

I kept my Christmas Decor till January 6th for the Three Kings. After that it will all be packed in the old container for the next celebration (Xmas). |

I think it's ok to have fun christmas stuff up into early january just because otherwise it just seems so bare. january is such an unfun freezing cold month why not go a couple weeks into the month. |

it's never too long. it's a merry thing to have Christmas decorations. Beauty should last forever, unless you prefer your place without decorations, then I don't know why you put it all up in the first place, because in the end, it's all about happiness, yours or other people. |

You should take them down on new years day 9rule of thumb) but your lights will be fine the rest of the month |

When the needles start to fall off the Christmas tree it's time to put things away until next Christmas. |

if you go by the religion, after Little Christmas, Jan 6th or 7th each year, anything longer is too long, gives you the oooh how big the house looks when you remove it |

I think that decorations should come down during the first week of the year. But use your own judgement, it's your house, your tree, your lights and your Christmas spirit! Take them down when YOU get tired of looking at them. |

Take it down before February comes, because, in my mind, February signals that spring is near. |

We get kinda lazy when it comes to taking down the decorations so sometimes it takes awhile. This year all we put up was our tree. It's coming down tomorrow...hopefully. |

Three Kings Day - Twelfth Night - Epiphany falls 12 days after the birth of Jesus and Christmas, on January 6. It marks the end of the Christmas holiday and many cultures take down decorations and burn the Christmas Tree. |
