gingerlatic | How much do you pay for your water rates? |
our new bill has come in at £51 a month! i think this is outrageous! there is no right to a rebate, its a monopoly situation as you cant change suppliers. i think i`m going to leave my tap running, make sure i get my moneys worth! |

The one thing that gets me is we're charged a set charge, even though we're environmentalists and make very large efforts to make sure our water consumption is low. I think we pay around £45 pm, and yet we have no leaky taps, we dont use a hose, we dont have a car so no water use there, we dont leave taps running when brushing our teeth, we have showers instead of baths, we use a sink of washing water instead of a dishwasher...the list goes on. At max we use about £15 worth of water a month.
Its rediculous (sp?) that we are expected to pay this much extra to take the fall for people who are probably getting their bills paid for them because 'they have a bad back' or they're form another country, or simply because the water companies are so damn greedy. Water is a valuable commodity, i agree, and high prices should deter people from using much of it - but it should be a high price dependant on your actual consumption - charging the people who work damn hard everyday to be considerate to the environment extortionate prices just discourages them from wanting to make the effort. I won't discourage me, but i still feel enraged. Sometimes i feel i would be better off unemployed, with some kind of excuse. Maybe i'd see an ouch of my cash per month....
*Edit* Name and shame time: YORKSHIRE WATER! |

mines £28.80 a month. it is outrageous considering they have been selling the reservoirs off and still putting prices up but they don't have alot of water now and as soon as there is some good weather we get bans.. well ill use mine for every penny i pay as they don't put the bills down. |

included in that is sewer and drain disposal but its still a lot of money//which water company is this? make it public on here as i think whatever they are supposed to be charging for they are ripping you off//here is a case where the government should cap these people as the gas yesterday but they wont lift a finger and these companies are making the chairman and directors VERY wealthy at the expense of the workers so the answer is put us all on meters not that that would help very much but i person alone uses a lot less water than 12 people next door |

That is outrageous. We've just moved int our house so dont know how much ours is gonna be yet but in other houses we usually get charged about £30 per month.
Maybe you would be better off getting a meter instead of having water rates. I dunno how much it costs to change it over though. |
