How much interest could I make a month by putting £50,000 into a high interest account?

D.W
about £2,500 - £3,000 on an annual basis.

Aim for nothing less then 6%.

You have that amount of money at your diposal and yet can't do simple sums !

What you should do is employ an accountant or go to a financial advisor.

It depends on what the interest rate was!!

charlotte e
well it all depends on what rate you get...

Paul S
Abbey are offering 10% on its Super ISA, providing you put the same amount into their long term deposit fund. So I would put the maximum in each.

You'd get about 6% in a good bank, gross

So that would be about 2000 a year interest after tax

not much

Property is a bad idea right now, so are stocks, I would invest it in a fund with a mix of assets, weighted towards bonds and metals ..

Prodigal Son
Whilst depending on the interest rate, you'd make a tidy little sum.

Depends on what bank you put it in. if you are investing this much do lots of research and find the best deal.

Just to add something different to the mix. If you have a mortgage you could use this money to off set the interest. This could save you £3,000 in interest payments a year. This is the best bit you don't pay tax on this as it is not deemed as interest. If you have no mortgage seek in dependant advice. Although this is not a life changing some of money you should seek advice as some of it should be invested for the longer term. High interest accounts are not good long term savings vehicles. A portfolio investment would be better but always keeps money back in cash for emergencies.
